Guest guest
Hello, All, De-lurking for a bit to ask a question - am including the details per 's encouragement to do so for clearer explanations ;-): Prior to 10 months ago, I only had scalp/hairy region type of psoriasis (although PA since a teenager). Then, after a very hot and sweaty 12 days in Italy (during which I apparently de-toxed: it was 95 degrees AND humidity last summer and I drank and sweated enough that I even lost the bags under my eyes!), two months later, my feet starting aching terribly, saw some bone growth on that outer bone near the toes and they started itching terribly on the soles - even got those big calloused things. After a couple of months, got those to go away (using creams, bag balm and saran wrap ... or maybe it just happened on its own?) but then the itching spread to the top of the foot where I got these real small 'pimples' and I scratched so much I made the skin red (and raised, it doesn't go away once that happens, only lightens in color) and even made some bleed. Then it spread up the leg to the calves. Went to a doctor few months ago and he prescribed a cortisone-based ointment to put on at night and a cream for the morning. Relieved the itching and started cooling it down, then stopped working - that was two months ago. Wasn't bad so I was hoping it had been arrested, no such luck. Last week, itching got very intense again, scratching is impossible not to do, even wakes me up at night. And it is now happening on my right hand: this morning, I can see the very tiny pimples between on a couple of fingers on the inside next to another finger, and on my palm. I am at my wits end - the doctor claims it isn't psoriasis, but eczema. It is better in the morning and during the day, but I think that is because I am moving, or maybe drinking water (try to drink several glasses each day, or???). He did mention something about 'renal insufficiency', but otherwise my circulation, I think is good? So what do you all think? Is it really some weird manifestation of psoriasis, or an allergy that is showing up because I 'cleansed myself' and then 'poisoned myself with something that didn't bother me before (I say this because it mimics what happened to me when I first went to college and got away from my Dad's cigarette smoking - I came back clean and strongly allergic to it, whereas I could tolerate it fine before). There are theories that skin problems like psoriasis are (partly) due to the liver, not being able to detox us enough (and of course, everyone's toxins are peculiar to their chemistry and environment, so it could even be a food or cosmetic or soap allergen, etc.). And if this really isn't psoriasis, is it very weird, spreading the way it is (although not like poison oak, immediately upon contact or spreading of the oil, etc.)? And for the record, I can't relate it to any specific supplement change (I take a lot of them) - I suppose it could be stress-related, but that is too easy a bucket!) Thanks in advance for your help - and especially you, - I hope you qualify for disability the first time and it goes smoothly. For all you've done for us, you deserve it!!! [Editor's Note: Hi, Geri; Thank you for the kind words. They are much appreciated. The skin symptomology you describe is familiar, at least at the First Order of Approximation: I had small clusters of these tiny pimples on my hands and feet, that acted pretty much as yours. It never converted to the psoriasis I'm personnally familiar with (garden variety plaque P). I also had aggressive P on the bottom of my feet; they just kind of " bubbled up " , and the whole bottom could be peeled off in 2 or 3 pieces. OK, what can we say we know, or find highly suggestive? 1. Virtually without any investigation, we have the two of us with PA, and our P-problem similarities, suggesting we're well within the reality of PA. Guest guest
Hi, This sort of thing happened in my front shin area. It lasted about a week but then I went on Enbrel the week after and it cleared up. I didn't even relate it to pa but now that you mention it, it may have been some weird manifestion of the disease. I can't think of anything I did to make them decide to show up there. Best of luck to you. I am a lurker as well.
