Bert. ) Bert, what a thoughtful thing to do! Setting up the site shows a lot of initiative and consideration. I'm really impressed. You asked about my having called you "Sunshine." I thought you went by that name once upon a time. I hope you didn't mind. So, I look this up ("plantar erythema", usually found more often under "palmar erythema") and I find it occurs in chronic liver disease. My liver tests have been normal since March and my biopsy 13 months ago showed no cirrhosis. Has anybody had this happen to them? Any input...should I worry? When I say red, I really mean outrageously red! I did find one reference to this being induced by azathioprine (Imuran), but it sounded rare and maybe in large doses. It doesn't particulary hurt, but I do have joint pain and neuropathy in my feet...have had the neuropathy for a couple of years. I know, it's weird. Any thoughts? Thanks, , have you talked to your doctor about this? From what I read, palmar erythema can be caused by any of a number of things, including liver disease. The sites I looked at (probably the same you read) say it may be of considerable significance, or it may mean nothing. When I was very ill with AIH, I had brilliantly red palms, but I didn't think to mention it to a doctor, assuming it was "just one of those things." The colaration went away when my health improved. Do talk to your doctor about it. If I were you, I'd print out some of the better listings and take them with me. Maybe I'd make a list of the possible causes and ask about them. Normal blood tests usually indicate that your liver is doing well, but there are exceptions. Harper hi rebecca, my feet are the same, though they do get sore, i have only just started o azathioprine yesterday. my doctor said it was normal and not to worry. my family say i just have rotten feet, i am going with the doctors on this one. i always walk around barefooted, so of course family blame that, but i have always done that but the sore/red feet have only been recent. hope this helps love anita Anita, RED palms (and, I suppose, soles) seem to me to be very different from soreness. If you check out some sites on palmar erythema, or read Palmer, etc., you'll see that palmar erythema can be an indicator of an underlying disease -- or sometimes it isn't. My concern is whether your doctor is on top of things, aware of the possible implications. From reading, I don't get the idea that the red palms are harmful in themselves, but that they may be clues to problems. Harper
Guest guest
Bert, I agree with all that have thanked you. It is a true effort to help with the volume of posts. I receive the individual posts for the same reason Jerry does. I feel it is easier to respond. I haven't been on line for 2 days and there are over 200 e-mails. I'm sure this will help a lot. Again, thanks for your thoughtfulness.
Guest guest
Hi: I've been lurking as usual, but now I have a question. My RA told me yesterday I needed to start on Remicade, right now I am on MTX only. It seems I am allergic to every other thing including Enbrel. My first IV is 1/14, I just wondered if somebody would give me some feedback. He still insist I slow down some more, how much more can I slow down? He has send if this doesn't help, disability. I wondered if you can work part-time & get SS part-time. I don't know, I just hate the thought of being 45 & not working at a job I love. Yet I know it is trying to catch up with me. Thanks for listening & let me know about the Remicade. Thanks for being there. Love & Prayers
