Guest guest
Cheri- I agree with you on the pedicure. If I had a choice of manicure or pedicure it would absolutely be feet down in the whirlpool for the pedicure. Nothings feels better. the manicurist is a friend of mine, so it is a little more embarassing when I go for a long time and they look bad. She always teases me about letting her feel like she has acomplished something! She also does a " quick-mani-pedi " and you soak your feet in a tub of warm soapy water with marbles on the bottom. While she does your nails she will remind you to move your feet - it feels GREAT. I actually combed the stores to find glass marbles to do this at home. I actually do it without the water and just stick my feet in a tub of marbles. Great on a hot day or when my feet are exceptionally hot (put the marbles in the refrigerator)- just slowly move your feet back and forth in the tub. Breathe slowly ....stretch if you can - kinda a yoga-spa experience. let me know if you try it Gentle hugs & prayers, Carol M. in CA

Hi Fran...I agree with Cheri, but if you are still concerned, you might look to see if a local dermatologist or podiatrist has a pedicurist on site...one of my old dermatologists has a " spa " attached where her technicians deal with people with icky feet, hands, skin conditions, etc...they may be more used to people like us! Guest guest
Dear Cheri, I know I shouldn't let it bother me. I've met a couple of manicurist who have told me I couldn't be any worse than some of the people they have dealt with. It's just something I put off I guess. I want to thank everyone who answered my email and I tried to get back to everyone. If I missed anyone I'm really sorry. Out of all the suggestions I received, I'm sure one of them will help. Thanks again. Love, Fran [ ] knobby toes Fran, and all who feel embarrassed about getting a professional pedicure.........DON'T hesitate. Think of it as the same a going to the doctor. They have a solution to a bad problem. I was shy about it the first time but the benefits are more than worth it. They put your feet jacuzzi type bath, then cut your toenails (talk about decadent.....I'll never do my own again!). Then the fun really begins when the start shaving off all......and I do mean all......of the dead skin. Piles of the stuff falls to the floor. After that there is the wonderful massage.....SIGH! Then if you want they will paint your toenails. I don't because I don't want to have to do it more than once a month and polish makes my nails brittle due to the formaldehyde in it. My only question is why didn't I know about this years ago? They don't care how knobby your toes are. They always remark how much they shave off my feet but I feel they are getting paid well for it. I leave with smooth, exhilarated feet and it lasts for a good three weeks if I put lotion on immediately after getting out of the shower. I was told by a dermatologist that lotion slows the loss of the present moisture but does not add moisture to skin so it is best to do it right out of the shower. I partially dry then apply. Life is just too short to go around with miserable feet if it can be helped. Later, Cheri

I was also embarressed at first to go because I have P under the toenails but as you said it is the most comforting thing getting your feet attended to. They cut the nails and rub your feet and soak them in the jacuzzi. UMMMMMMMMM, I think I will go get one tomorrow. Everyone should check it out.
