Dear Janet, How did you find such a great podiatrist? Was he the one who

did the guided injections? That seemed to make so much sense to me since so

much of the time, I never feel like the steroid injections go to the right

place. My rheumatologist who loves to point out he thinks my current pain

is from osteoarthritis has never suggested something like this. My feet are

so bad I haven't been able to wear shoes for more than 4 months and can

hardly stand. Thanks for any information you can give me. Sincerely, Fran

I had great results with ultrasound guided injections into the heel. No pain

in the right one for six monthsand counting.. and no pain in the left one

for 1 year and counting.... I'm back wearing shoes at work , such a small

thing to others I'm sure, but to me in an office environment makes a big

difference. I highly recommend these injections to anybody who has plantar

fasciitis.

I went throught the injections and they are only a temporary solutions

because the pain usually returns. I had a podiatrist make orthotics for my

sneakers

and even wore them in my shoes. It was like a miracle. I guess they took

the pressure off the heel and the pain disappeared. It took about a month.

I

don't wear then anymore unless I feel the pain returning and then I put them

in

my shoes for a while.

My podiatrist did not give me guided injections. He just injected cortisone

where he thought it would help and it did temporarily. The thing that really

worked was the orthotics.

I would be interested in knowing more about guided

injections, I am due for a cortisone shot, my first

one, in March. It sounds like it might be better than

what I am hearing about.

Thanks

All I can say Janice is they really hurt !!! And I would gladly go tomorrow

if I needed one because for me they have been so successfull, They get right

to the source, none of this hang the tail on the donkey, in the dark

business !! I've had four in total, two by my GP (not guided)one lasted a

week the other injection was three weeks(these were in my right heel),Then I

had Two by a Radiologist (guided) One has lasted 1 year(right Heel) and

counting and one has lasted 6 months(Left heel) and counting.. The ones by

the radiologist were much more intense as he really turned that needle

around (ouch) The GP just Inserted it in and out in a second. The

Radiologist showed me the inflammation in the heels on the Monitor, one was

2 MM thicker and one was 1 mm thicker, not a lot but enough to give us pain

!!!

I would also say that the Inserts have really helped that I was given after

the Injections. I no longer need to wear them, but it's nice to know they

are there if needed (they are the Gel ones which are really nice)

Regards

Micky
