Guest guest
Hi everyone, I heard on CNN this morning that Celebrex is on the same list as Vioxx with the testing, etc. they just had done Vioxx first!! Has anyone else heard anything about this? I guess they weren't letting Veterans use Vioxx for awhile and Celebrex is also included. Please let me know if you've heard anything. God Bless, Sue from Michigan. [Editor's Note: Vioxx, Celebrex and Bextra are all the same class of drug - COX-2 inhibitors. Since one drug in the class (Vioxx) has a problem, ALL drugs in the same class will now come under increased scrutiny. This is appropriate. However, while in the same class of drug, Celebrex and Bextra are different chemically from Vioxx so it does not automatically follow that if Vioxx caused problems, all other drugs in the same class will cause the same problem. So, yes, Celebrex will be subjected to further studies, but it does not mean that it will be found to cause the same problems as Vioxx.
