Guest guest
Hi all, Thanks for the support Iris. I saw the surgeon on Friday for my post op check. He said everything looked good and put me in a splint for 7 weeks while everything fused. (fingers crossed). When I looked at my hand I wanted to cry. All I could see was a 7 inch wound which was black and gnarled, my hand and wrist had no shape and it was all colours mostly black and purple looking. It looked horrific. The surgeon was great and made me see past that. Obviously once everything heals it will look normal. The strangest thing though was looking at a straight wrist. It looked so odd. I have been looking at the deformed wrist for that long looking at a straight one seemed like a deformity to me. I have to check it daily and can honestly say that already it's looking good. The swelling is reducing, obviously it is still badly bruised but the straight wrist loves beautiful. I am so glad I went ahead with the surgery (so far anyway). Many thanks to those of you who offered me advice and support. (ps typing one handed is a bit of a pain)
