Hey lets keep that news within the group the last thing we need is for people to rush to remicade for improved sex as it might run the price up further ha ha On a more serious note about remicade. Some of the other groups I follow have been buzzing about remicade. Has anyone posted a negative account of or experience with remicade? I've heard many shining reports of relatively instantaneous releif from arth and rapid total clearing of nails and skin. Orin
Guest guest
ORIN, Yesterday I saw my rhuemy for my two month visit. I've been hoping he would start me on the remicaide but he's been dragging his feet forever. Well he told me that remicaide is getting a bad rep because it causes a lot of infections in people. Now I know the information on the medicine tells you of that possibility, but my rheumy made it sound like it was doing more harm than good. First I've heard of it-unless there is info. out there I haven't heard of yet. Needless to say my doctor wants me to go the enbrel way BUT not until after the first of next year. Procrastinating again maybe?!! Hope everything goes well with your treatments1 Theresa in Fla.
Guest guest
I NEVER sign the IEP at the meeting, I always ask to take it home and go over it before I sign it-even if the meeting has gone well. If they are going to make changes- I wait to see it before I sign it. This gives me time to " sleep on it " and see if I missed anything. I know that may drive them nuts at times, but it lets me " get my bearings " before I sign it-especially if I feel like I have been pushed into something I don't like. My .02 worth, M. Guest guest
to Windwood Acres Farm, hello, dont worry everything will be fine by the Grace of God. I am also having chronic hep c. the prognosis of the hep c depends upon the genotype of the hepatitis virus. Hep c virus has 6 main genotypes and presently it has 80 sub-types. type 1 ans 2 are difficult to treat , but the type 1 is the worst one. Type 3 is quite treatable , but the response rate to the treatment differes from person to person , I am studying medicine , almost done u can say. I got the standard treatment of hep c , then receovered , but after 1 year the virus was reactivatied. But it does not happen in every case. well, dont worry let the doctors evaluate the stage of the disease. best of luck. bye.Hepatitis C wrote: There is 1 message in this issue.Topics in this digest:1. very worried, need advice pleaseFrom: "Windwood Acres Farm" ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________Message: 1 Date: Tue, 14 Feb 2006 16:31:54 -0000From: "Windwood Acres Farm" Subject: very worried, need advice pleaseGreetings,My daughter is 20 years old, currently in her third year of pre-med and on the deans list. She had the hep vaccinations in the early 90's. She has complained of unspecific abdominal pain for the past ten years, every physician said there was nothing wrong. I divorced and I believe they attributed it to nerves. When she was five, at a doctors checkup they discovered her white blood cell counts were off the charts, they thought their machine may have been malfunctioning. After a very long month and repeated blood draws every week her pediatrician said "the only thing we can find is a positive rheumatoid factor, sometimes we never know what is wrong, she does not have cancer". Last year she woke up with a swollen eye and agonizing pain, eye and head, she vomited all the way to the doctor. They diagnosed her with a rare decease called "orbital pusdeo tumer" causing swelling of the eye area, this has come back once, but since has remained dormant, she was on 80 mg of prednazone for six months. She was taken to the emergency room four years ago and they said she basically needed to eat more, she was rail thin, she my mother and I were shocked as she ate a normal diet, but due to her age I think they assumed an eating disorder of some kind.(she has been rail thin all of her life as was her grandmother 110 pounds max) We purchased vitamins and she got much better. She has had bacterial encephalitis twice, once when she was 12 and again at 15. They did a spinal when she was 15 to rule out meningitis. She has had numerous urinary tract infections, kidney infection. Her physician requested she go in for an mri as for her age she was having too many problems. She did not keep her appointment and began to get better so ultimately did not go in. (this was over the last year)The past two months she has had more severe stomach pain, waking her up at night, vomiting. Her doctor has since ruled out ulcer, mono and a couple others. And sent her for bloodwork.that's her health history... (in case it is somehow related)current:The nurse phoned yesterday and told that she has very high enzymes and they believe she has hepatitis c. They are sending her today for a full hep screen and additional tests as is normal I am sure.Is is possible to make a diagnosis of hep c with one blood draw? What is the normal course of this decease? Does it cause stomach pain for years? Not important to me but will be to her: will she be able to practice medicine? How long does it take to get a hep screen back?I am posting this on a couple different groups hoping to get advise from those who are more knowledgeable than my self.Any advice will be greatly appreciated!worried mom here________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________------------------------------------------------------------------------
Guest guest
> > to Windwood Acres Farm, > > Hi, > I am a mother of two who has been diagnosed with HepC, and I didn't find out until I was pregnant with my second child. I had a biopsy done on my liver, and they said that there was no damage to the liver yet (six years ago). Then my husband was tested, and he got it, so I had both children tested, and they were positive also. This news devastated me, and I felt like such a terrible mother for giving them this awful disease, but they had acquired it at birth. Since then, I have been searching the internet for any and all treatments, and trying to decide which one we should use. I found a site with testimonials about a product called advanced colloidal silver. The testimonials all said that this either got rid of the virus, or at least made the people feel better than the interferon/ ribavirin, and with better results. We are going to try it for the children, because the standard treatment would make them unable to deal with school as effectively, and since I work in the educational field, I feel that this is the most important thing that they do, and don't want them to get behind. I am quite sure that your daughter would still be able to practice medicine, even with this virus, as long as she is careful, and her knowledge about this could even help her with future patients. I don't know about the nausea, because the disease hasn't affected any of us this way. We are all tired most of the time, and each family member is fatigued very easily. My husband says that it makes him have headaches and tooth pain. I get pains in the area of the liver itself. My daughter complains of flu-like symptoms. My son is too young to even know all of this, but he gets really tired, and can sleep from 10 to 12 hours at a time. This is really all of the information we have at this time, but I will keep on until I find a cure for at least the children, if not my whole family. I pray to God often about this, and I feel sure that he will lead us all to the cure. I have to believe this, all that I have is on the line. It takes two days to get the results from a blood test, and yes, it is possible to determine this from one blood draw. The symptoms vary with different people, so this could be the cause of her stomach problems. I have found that the viral load is very pertinent information, also. I hope this helps you and your daughter. God bless you and hang in there, S. Guest guest
Hi SHelby, I have heard way too much negative feedback from people who know that Collidal Silver is not what it's cracked up to be! I wouldn't take it myself let alone give it to my kids! Please check with some good gastros and find out how they feel about it and what they feel would be the best treatment. People can say all kinds of things we want to hear but that doesn't mean it wil do what they say! We all want that magic cure but as it stands right now there isn't any! It will be a waste of your money and god only knows what it might do to your kids! Just concerned! Guest guest
Oh, I am not going to do anything without talking to a doctor first. I want to get all of the info. Guest guest
Hello Dr. Grim and all, My husband is taking Enalipiril Maleate 20mg, Norvasc 5mg once a day to control his BP. He has been taking this for last 5 years to control his BP when they did not suspect PA (He was 35 when he was first diagnosed with High BP). His endocrinologist has not prescribed him any medication as he is still awaiting the test results from ARR test (aldosterone Renin Ratio). The doctor did mention that he might start him on Ameloride once he gets the ARR test results. He has also suggested doing AVS at Mayo clinic in Rochester. The CT scan showed a 7mm adenoma on the right gland but the gland sizes looked normal He is controlling his sodium intake and I have the DASH book on order to make more dietary changes. Let me know if you need more information to give us an informed opinion on the course of treatment Regards, Sapna --------------------------------------------------------------------------------\ ------------------------------------------------------------------- Hi Sapna: Those who have PA, all have problems with potassium. In fact low potassium + high blood pressure = PA The only way to fix this problem is to take either Aldactone(or Spironolactone) or Inspra medication Both are potassium sparing medications. and follow the DASH diet.Once your husband starts taking either one of these medications, most likely he doesn't need to take any other meds or potassium. Please post a list of medications your husband is on so Dr. Grim can review and give his advise. Guest guest
Read my review article and take it to your Endo. PA is the reason he is not responding to Norvasc and Enalapril. The latter is worthless in PA as you can see in my review. Also send the article to all Dr who have missed your husbands Dx. You gave not details on K problems or how the adrenal bump was found. Not all bumps cause PA. Indeed most do not. May your pressure be low! Clarence E. Grim, BS, MS, MD Senior Consultant to Shared Care Research and Consulting, Inc.
