Guest guest
Hi everybody -- I am way behind so here are just a few comments about recent discussions. MTX - worked great for me until it didn't. Now I'm taking Arava and it is doing fairly well. Hated the side effects of MTX though. Doing better on Arava. Flax Oil -- Be careful with that. I agree it is a good thing but too much can cause really bad gastrointestinal upset. I am allergic to fish so it is the best alternative source of the oil but the recommended amount was too much for me. Fatigue -- I really envy all of you who can sleep for 8+ hours. I can only lay in bed for 5 hours (I just wake up and can't go back to sleep) and then I have to get up because I hurt. I am in a fog for the first two hours in the morning and feel semi-conscious most evenings after I finally settle down at home but 8+ hours of sleep would be a luxury for me. Can't remember the other subjects I had comments on so.....more later. Cheri
Guest guest
Cheri, i feel exactly like you.. I think everybody does.. Alot of us that sleep long hours wake up and feel like we havent slept at all.. i sleep 9 to 10 hours (without waking up once) and then wake up feeling awful.. I feel like i didnt sleep for 1 minute.. And my brain fog also lasts for about 2 hours from the time i wake up.. Its kind of a panic/brain fog feeling.. If the doorbell woke me up and i had to answer the door , i would be all messed up mentally.. I think the U.P.S. guy thinks i'm a weirdo but i dont care.. If i would tell him i would be more normal if he would deliver during the afternoon, he'd probably think i'm more weird..lol so i dont bother... But yea, i hate that feeling when i wake up.. i dont know whats going on. Its because the poisons/bacterias attack our body when we are least active.. I have found if i stayed up all night or if i only had 1 to 2 hours of sleep , my brain fog would be much less severe.. If you eat less (1 to 2 meals a day only) , avoid stress asmuch as u can, and drink only water...you will feel better. Everytime you eat, you are putting an extra load on the already overwelmed liver.. Thus, more poisions circulate in your bloodstream causing more pain and psoriasis. also what i have found is very helpful and very good for toxic relief (pain psoriasis) is Jacuzzi , Whirlpool therapy... If you have one and use it everyday you feel much better. Eat less and you will feel better.. = most important and no junkfood mike >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>\ >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Message: 1 Date: Sat, 7 Jun 2003 07:06:05 -0700 From: " cheri " <cdyost@...> Subject: Odds & Ends Fatigue -- I really envy all of you who can sleep for 8+ hours. Yes, you may feel temporarily better by eating less, that has been my experience too. For a number of years I often got so much into the web that I essentially went on what I call " the Internet diet " . I would have a bit of food in the morning and a bit of food in the evening, and a fair amount of water too, just like you describe. While that helped to reduce my symptoms, I was eating below my needs and nutritional requirements and was slowly wasting away. Two of my own theories why infrequent eating temporarily helps are: A) some basic food that you're sensitive to is not consumed or the catabolic state your body enters with long times between eating helps to reduce the swelling, the same way that corticosteroid drugs work by putting your body in a catabolic state. However, chronic under-eating is not sustainable, and places a stress on the body that you're trying so much to avoid! Inflammatory types of arthritis (including rheumatoid arthritis and psoriatic arthritis) are actually a wasting disease. It turns out that our protein requirements are HIGHER than an average individual's, and we also need MORE vitamins & nutrients than the average individual. Our immune system demands it. You can't 'starve' arthritis anymore than you can starve cancer. Incidentally, 40% of people with cancer die from malnutrition, not from the cancer itself. Most people with arthritis are There are foods that you can eat that will help overwhelmed liver. Red beets are a great example, and milk thistle seeds when ground and made as a tea is great support for the liver. Body weight control is downright simple. It's the same if you are trying to maintain, to loose fat, or to gain muscle: ** Eat 5 to 6 small meals a day. ** That's it. Well, you can get more complicated with macronutrient combining (such as protein + carbs in the first half of the day, protein + fat in the second half of the day), avoiding starches with meats, and more. Once I started eating 'cleanly' every three hours I no longer had brain fog, or felt tired. I no longer need coffee or stimulants to pep me up during the day, and I sleep very soundly now too. Food is your fuel, and it's also your best medication.
