,

I also live on Long Island. If you need any advice with doctors let me know.

I have worked for a doctor for the past 15 years and can recommend some good

ones. Where on long island are you?

Yes - both wrists are involved (right primarily), but only the middle

finger of my left hand is a problem. X-rays have never shown anything

on me. , Azusa

PA is well known for being a one-sided disease for some. It definitely fits the

mold of one type of PA. Getting x-rays is not uncommon. They like, if nothing

else, to have a base line, to see where your joints are at this time. It gives

them something to compare to at a later date.

Good luck. When my hands ache I often put one of my herbal bags in the

microwave, rub some shea butter lotion on my hands and then wrap them with the

herbal bag. It feels wonderful, is no cure by any means but does feel good.

Hi ,

I agree. X-rays are a good idea. Have you had any blood tests done?

If not, you may want to ask your doctor about it. Ask him/her to

test for any unusual inflammation and if there is ask about seeing a

rhumetologist. Any data you can gather to put the " puzzle pieces "

together is a good thing.

My PA really started last October with one swollen index finger. It

was actually my podiatrist that suggested a blood test and that is

when my doctor sent me to the rhumetologist. I have a few other

symptoms now, but it all started with one swollen finger.

Another thing that feels good is using a parafin machine or simply

running your hands under warm water. My physical therapist had a

parafin machine and it really helped with range of motion, but you

have to be careful not to aggravate the swelling.

If you want to E-mail me privately, I may be able to give you a doctor that

is going to help you. What is your medical insurance? I live about 15

minutes away from Winthrop Hospital. Also to answer your question about the

cream

you are looking for, I know they have it a Trader Joe's. There is one in

Plainview, L.I..

The parafin bath helped the pain in my hands a great deal. The relief was

instant--but not long-term. However, after using it daily, I think the pain

stayed away for longer periods.
