Although I have been suffering, on and off, from psoriasis and mild PA mfor

more thsnn 30 years, I have just joined this group. I immediately noticed

that the vast majoriy of sufferers on this group use vaious types of

medication, with a varying degree of success.

I have always used climatotheray almost since the start of my problem. I

only used medication for a few months before I, perchance, discovered the

wonders of the Dead Sea. What amazed me even further was that literally

thousands of people flock to the dead sea from counties like Denmark,

Netherlands, Germany and Italy, while many thousands of people from other

countries flock to the Jordanan side of the Dead Sea.

It should be acknowledged that about 5 to 10% of sufferers of P and PA do

not react positively to treatment at the dead sea or show only a very

partial improvement. However, less than 1 % show any negative side effects

whatsoever (melanoma., aging skin, rashes, allergies, nausia etc).

Of those who do show an improvement, about 80% show an improvement varyung

between 75% and 100% while the others show a 50% to 75% improvement. These

rates of clearance occur during treatments lasting betwen 3 to 6 weeks,

depending on the individual.response.

These improvements last anything between a few weeks (sometimes as little as

one or two weeks) and one to three years. It has also been discovered that

treatment is much quicker amd much more efficient the second or third time

around.

The major problems here are the time taken for treatment (usually 3 to 6

weeks the first time and the great expense involved. However, if you live in

Germany, Denmark and Holland, some of the Health-Funds are apparently

prepared to cover a large part of the costs. This may also be true in some

other countries as well. I have been told, however, that, for some strange

reason, North American Dermatologists are very suspicious of Climatologocal

teatment and try to steer their patients away from it as far as possible. If

coming to the Middle East for medical treatment scares you off, becuse of

the political situation, I am sure that there must be regions in the USA

which will be useful, even if they are not quite .as good as the dead sea

because of its peculiar low altitude and high level of saltiness.

Just remember, whatever form of treatment you use, you must feel comfortable

with it. The degree of low stress is critical in the treatment of Psoriasis

and PA.

[Ed. Note: My dermatologist recommended that I take a vacation in Tahiti to help

with my psoriasis, but I couldn't get him to write me a prescription for it -

Ha, Ha! ;-) Ron]
