Hello and .....

I'm sorry if I've offended anyone with the post I wrote a couple of

weeks ago - if I'd known it would have caused such " controversy " I never

would have sent it.

The section of my post which may have offended is/was as follows - this

is a direct copy of that section:::::

" In a long distance phone call with an old friend of mine last week I

learned about a woman, now up in her late 60's, who has been battling

with RA for years - the symptoms and various med treatments were hit and

miss - last year she took up marijuana smoking! She claims it relaxes

her and she's able to cope a lot better, both with the mental stress of

her disease and the debilitating effects as it relates to relaxation,

sleep, etc. This woman lives in a state where medical marijuana isn't

legal and is almost impossible to obtain - she's now seriously planning

a move to one of the western states where it can be obtained by certain

doctors who are connected with the plan that dispenses it.

I don't know .....that kind of thing seems awfully risky - and I'm not

too sure that marijuana would help anyone with PA ...and even if it did,

where would one even find a doctor willing to go through the problems

related to getting hold of it? Also, can you imagine telling

anyone::::I'm on Methotrexate, Celebrex, and POT? Egads.

Well ..I'm not going to sit in judgement of this woman - what works for

her works for her - and if what she does is done legally and it is

*medical marijuana* dispensed by a qualified physician, then who am I to

say? I guess there's so much stigma attached to it that I personally

wouldn't want to consider it. " - Joan Lloyd

First off - this 60 year old woman is NOT dealing or coping with PA -

it's RA .

Yes, I meant what I said in that I will not sit in judgement - I was

simply reporting what I'd heard in a conversation. I in no way meant or

mean that anyone here should rush out and take up marijuana smoking!

For heaven's sake, everyone here knows that is an ILLEGAL activity.

What I did leave out of my paragraph above is the fact that this woman

is also taking *prescribed medications* intended for persons with RA -

she didn't simply ditch standard medical treatment and run off to some

strange *alternative*.

I hope I've not added " fuel to the fire " in my reprise above - but I

wanted to set the record straight. There are many individuals who will

turn to many things in order to cope with the terrible symptoms and pain

of PA and RA. Who knows - some people may find relief in organized

prayer groups - or attend " laying on of hands " prayer meetings. Some

may find peace and inner calm by joining yoga groups or meditation

sessions. As far as I'm concerned, I won't sit in judgement of such

things - they may or may not work for others but if even a few people

find hope, relief, and a sense of calmness in the face of debilitating

pain and anxiety - so be it.

Respectfully,

Joan Lloyd

, i think that the issuue is probably over now. i just got those posts i

was talking about yesterday. i was pretty shocked that the post was even on the

site. i never read the one that got people upset but the comments back to the

person were a little harsh in my opinion. i don't plan on ever talking abot that

subject rest assured. i just felt tlike people get ot of control when it comes

to judging others here. i hope i didn't offend anyone with what i said. i hope

you are doing well. i did notice that you hadn't been around lately. also i hope

the rest of your weekend is a blessd one. one last thing, the posts i read re:

this subject were titled young people with pa. there was also mention of the

person being a firefighter. hope this helps you. rachel
