Hi D

We did a series of this kind of sharing a few years ago (I'll have to look

at the archives) but there were a lot of really good suggestions, most of

which escape me now. Here are some of mine -- I use a Sensonic toothbrush

and a shower type water pic because I am unable to grip and I can't control

the water pic. It doesn't matter in the shower but I hate " picing " the

whole bathroom if I try the counter top water pic. I have a very bumpy

steering wheel cover which helps me turn sharp corners without having to

grip the wheel. I got rid of all my cast iron pots and pans and now only

use small ones with good handles. I use the really fat pens and mechanical

pencils. I have a really good jaw type gripper. I also had a higher toilet

put in one bathroom, which really helps when my back is in serious trouble.

Marti has an electric jar opener which sounds terrific. I saw one

advertised recently so they must be available on line. There are more but

it is early and they don't come to mind right now.

Your house sounds wonderful and well appointed. When will you be able to

move in?

Sorry I didn't get your last posts answered. I'm slowing getting back into

the swing of things so will try to write more later.

Bye for now, Cheri

I remembered another thing that might fit into

the 'gadgets' category: Any jars that will be

refrigerated, or will not be saved, I first punch

a tiny hole in the lid with an icepick. That

relieves the vacuum and makes them easier to open

Well I don't think this qualifies as a gadget, but it has saved me during

the day several times. My medication keeps me constantly thirsty, plus I

often have to take a pill and not having water is a nightmare. I don't know

about the rest of you, but for me to go with out water for even 1 hour

sometimes I would be really miserable. And the only thing worse than no

water was having " warm or hot " water. Soooooo. I figured out if I froze

half a bottle of bottled water, then before we leave the house, I add cold

water to the rest of the bottle. This way your water says ice cold all day

long and down here in Florida that is a big deal for me. Just had to get my

2 cents in I guess...lol. Love, Fran

Hi d,

Funny that you should ask that. I had a visit from a sort of welfare worker

during the week. She went round the house suggesting things that might make

things easier for me. She left a knife, fork and spoon with thick foam rubber

handles to try and help me cut meat, etc. She is going to come back with a

shower stool and something similar for the bath, something to help me open jars

and something to help me turn on the water taps. She also said that she could

get a grab rail fitted on the stairs and in the shower if I wanted it. I

will let you know how I get on with them in a week or two.

Take care,
