Guest guest
Happy Birthday Debi -- It is my mom's bd too. I think I will take her to see Cold Mountain this afternoon. I'll pay for it in sore hips and extra fatigue but she doesn't get out much so it is worth it. You have a pool! I am so envious! We had a pool when we first moved into this house but permanently winterized it with several loads of gravel because this is not the right climate for an outdoor pool and although we considered roofing and heating it I was just too nervous with 2 small boys and their assorted friends. I just couldn't stand the thought that someone might drown so we did away with it. I wish we had it now. I would definitely roof and heat it. Then I could live in it. I have severe neck issues too and I haven't found anything that helps. I sleep on a neck roll but much movement really kicks up a lot of trouble for me. I hope you find a formula that helps you feel better soon. Cheri :-))
Guest guest
> have alot of stiffness in my > neck. Happy Birthday! My PT gave me neck exercises that help. The one that helps the most is sit up or stand up straight , then pull your head straight back like a turtle going into his shell. It is easier if someone shows you how to do it. He has me turn my neck to each side very lightly, then take my hands and gently stretch it some more. If any pain develops stop the exercise. The idea is to improve your flexibilty a little at a time without hurting yourself. He says neck rolls are not good. After several weeks I noticed my neck stiffness was less. Guest guest
Thanks for the info. I went on the Canadian Arthritis Society website today and found some neck and shoulder exercises. This morning, following the advise of someone on this site, I stretched before I got out of bed. I used some gentle stretches I learned years ago from the best chiropracter I had ever met. This was long before I had arthritis and I just worked whatever seemed reasonable. It was the most comfortable day I've had in ages. Thanks for the good birthday wishes. I hope your mom had fun too! Guest guest
Thanks Marti. I saw that exercise on a Canadian Arthritis website today and printed it. I won't do the neck rolls if they're not a good idea. I can't believe how quickly certain parts of me have gotten rigid. I feel like underneath the methotrexate it must have been degenerating.
