Guest guest
Hi y'all, I got my MTX Thursday and I thought I would take the folic acid all weekend and then take the MTX on Monday where I could remember to start each week with it. I must say I am so SCARED to take it. I can't help it! It just seems like its a such a vicious medication. When reading side effects though, they all seem wicked. I think about this disease all the time. No erosions, my 2 numbers for for inflamation (I don't know what they were called) one was a 22 and the other was a 10.3, I just don't feel like I am that bad to take medication. Everyone tells me, Dr and nurses, that it will not ignore me even if I ignore 'it'. Sorry I sound like a baby. I read these messages and just get sick feeling. Not that I am not sincerely glad that I found all of you... No one knows what I am talking about unless it is someone with that has PA...which are only people at the Rhuemy clinic. I have another sore toe starting....I didn't tell my Dr. I didn't want her to know... what is wrong with me? Am I a nutter too??? Have a good weekend everyone... I know this is a crazy message but hey... it's the way I am feeling since this all started.

Guest guest
Hello, I found your posting to be very funny...you're not a " nutter " ...if you are than I am too. I was interested in your inflamtion numbers. I'm assuming you're referring to Sed Rate and C Reactive Protein. If I'm correct, 0-20 is normal for Sed. Rate and 0-4.9 is normal for the CReactive. You're right that 22 for the sed. rate doesn't sound bad. For me, I was having nagging pain and inflamation for many many months but for some reason, all of my numbers fell within the range of normal. I guess this is the reason I went undiagnosed for so long....yet still in pain. I thought I was a hypochondriac when all of a sudden the pain became unbearable. It really happened almost over night. At that point my Sed. Rate was 36 and C-Reactive was still normal. At this point I've been on MTX for 2 1/2 mths. While taking it my Sed. Rate went down to 34 but then back up to 38. It seems like it's easier to control it than to get it to go down. I guess my point is, try to be glad that you got diagnosed and the prescription before it got horrible. I can only speak for myself but it happened so fast and when it did it was horrible ! I wish my Dr. had figured it out while I could still say it wasn't too bad. Good luck with the MTX ! > Hi y'all, > > I got my MTX Thursday and I thought I would take the folic acid all > weekend and then take the MTX on Monday where I could remember to > start each week with it. Guest guest
Hi Sunnymaypa(sorry I don't see your name), You are not a nutter. But, don't make yourself one either. The more you worry & fret, the more stress you have. Stress is definitely a factor with PS & PA!! In fact, I would bet that any help you may get from MTX could be negated by your stress level. Yes MTX can cause side effects. But if you are aware of that, there is no need to worry. Just be aware and if you notice problems, call your doctor. Most likely you are starting on a low dose anyway, and the lower the dose, the less likely you are to have side effects. I take 10MG of MTX weekly (for over 2 years). NO side effects, NO problems and best of all NO PAIN. I hope you find the same relief I did with MTX, and if it doesn't work for you, do not despair, not every drug works the same for each of us. Stay Well,
Guest guest
Thanks so much for that encouraging message! I am not as fretful today... seems like the more I read from the boards and the more I learn about the disease, medications, the better informed I feel thus not stressing out as much! My dosage is 10mg weekly...and folic acid daily. I don't think that is a high dosage according to what I have read. Thanks again! > Hi Sunnymaypa(sorry I don't see your name), > You are not a nutter.
