Guest guest
Dear Kathy, Have a great time. It sounds like a lot of fun and you are helping people at the same time, that’s almost perfect. I can’t imagine sleeping in a tent though, I’d have to drag my king-size bed with me or I’d never make it. Stay happy and tell us all about it when you get back. Love, Fran [Editor's Note: Thanks so much, Fran. Yes, it will be a blast. Those of us on the Medical Team (even someone like me who is merely driving a med van) will dress up for fun as a MASH unit with army visors, camouflage shorts and shocks, dog tags, etc. I think plumpy old me will look quite fetching in my Army drag. I am not a camper type, either, Fran. I'll be bringing my queen sized battery operated air mattress to sleep on. How luxe! Whoever is my tentmate will be VERY happy to see me - we'll be sleeping in the Plaza Hotel tent while the others will be in the YMCA tents, LOL. Kathy F.] [ ] Gone for a Few (OT) Dear All, I'll be away from the list (and therefore list editing) until Sunday night. I've volunteered to assist the G. Komen 3 Day 60 mile breast cancer walk in NYC. Ha, no, I can't walk 6 blocks let alone 60 miles in three days so I will not be one of the fifteen hundred brave walkers, however, I will be the captain of the volunteer Medical Transport team that will bring the volunteer medical crew to an injured walker or take an injured walker to a hospital. This is my 3rd time being involved in this wonderful event which will raise several million dollars by Sunday night. The walkers will walk 20 miles a day for 3 successive days and we'll all spend our nights in a campsite (i.e. a park in NYC) sleeping in tents. It's a massive undertaking, but obviously one that raises a lot of funds for a very worthy cause - one out of 8 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer. I think that being involved with helping others is one way to keep a positive attitude and it takes the spotlight off my own plight. Besides, it's a lot of fun! In any case, if the messages are a little slow in getting posted, it will only be because we'll be short a list editor so please be patient. Hope you all have a lifting of your spirits and a freedom from pain. Regards to all, Kathy F.

Guest guest
Kathy, I'm new here, but just read your message. That's a great thing to be doing and a thoroughly worthy cause. Hope the walk went well, that you all raised lots of money and that there weren't too many injured walkers. Take care, .
