Dear Rose,

I was reading your posting and took note that you were only taking 12.5 Metho

pills a week. And some Bextra. Your rheumatologist should have given you a

prescription for 1 mg of folic acid pills to take six days a week ( in my

humble opinion). It can really help with the fatigue of the PA. You just do not

take it the same day as your Metho, my doc says.

Also, your dose of Metho is relatively low. I for one--and there have been

dozens of others--have been on doses as high as 50 mg a week of Metho (usually

by shot at this high a dose) You will need a prescription for a pill for

nausea and vomiting that works really well for chemo drugs- and it is called

Zofran. Kytril also works but is more expensive.

You can take more charge of your care by becoming as informed as possible as

to your options and then requesting that the doctor give you what you need

after discussing all the options. In my experience my doc has appreciated that

I am so well informed --less work for him- he can come right out and tell me

like it is! Another thing to mention is that of course, when you are on Metho,

you should be getting monthly bloodwork for liver and kidney tests and a

complete blood count.

I hope all this info helps.

Sincerely,

S.
