Guest guest
Hi! I'm pregnant and have P and PA. I'm about middle of the road as far as symptoms. The PA has been better than before I was pregnant, but not gone, it still gives me fits, just not as bad. The Psoriasis is trying to come back, again it's been worse than this, but still active. I have had 2 doctor's jokingly tell me that I am not supposed to be having problems with P or PA right now, so I may be a fluke. I'm hoping I don't have the rebound that everyone keeps mentioning, since this stuff has never went away! Good luck to you with your pregnancy!!! --Merribeth

I actually think the PA depends on the type of pregnancy you have. I had a very tough pregnancy and was sick for the whole nine months. Afther I delivered, I had a very bad flare of P and PA. I think it depends on the person. Janet

Guest guest
Hi Merribeth My PA was really eased during both my pregnancies and also when I was taking Depo Provera (contraceptive injection taking every 3 months). unfortunately you can't stay pregnant for ever and I found my weight increased while I was on Depo Provera. At the moment I am taking an older anti-depressant (Amitriptyline) which is also supposed to help with pain (I can't say I've noticed a difference) but it also gives me a HUGE appetite and I've just about gone back to my pre-PA weight. It's never easy is it? Good luck with your pregnancy. stacey
Guest guest
I was sick 7 of the 9 mos and lived off phenergren! I had gestational diabetes early on and was on insulin.... my symptoms were gone, but like I said about 6 mos later.... i felt like I died and someone left me in hell.... please excuse my language but its the truth! I couldn't even pick my child up, couldn't hold him, change his diaper etc. I only gained 1/2 lb during preg. which was actually a good thing...I was looking GREAT! better than pre pregnancy, but then when I got hammered, doc put me on prednisone and I blew up like a baloon and haven't recovered! Gained more!!! Guest guest
, I think I gain five pounds every time I get a predisone dose pack. Luckily, I don't have to take it daily. But prednisone....pain... not too much choice!!! Boyd <celticangyl@...> wrote:I was sick 7 of the 9 mos and lived off phenergren! Guest guest
I guess I'm a weirdo... I'd rather be in pain than take it again... It made me very very mean, and the weight gain was too much... so I'll stick with my cocktail of vicadin and vioxx and my methotrexate... which the mtx isn't doing squat for the pain, but it's only been 1 month, does it help with pain? and if so how long till it kicks in? Guest guest
Everyone is different, but I've been on my 10mg. of MTX for about six weeks. At the present [cross fingers] I'm not hurting & p is looking better. The pain stopped maybe four or five days ago. I hope you have good results, too. With pa you never know what really helps, but I'll keep taking my vioox & all my other stuff, too. I hope you have similar success! Sylvia Boyd <celticangyl@...> wrote:I guess I'm a weirdo... Guest guest
I've been on it at just the 10 mg. level for about 6 weeks. Hope it works for you, too. About two years ago I took 7.5 mg. for about 6 months until I had an operation & came off of it. It didn't seem to be effective for me then at that doseage, but I wasn't in as much PA pain. I was just experiencing extreme tiredness....then I had my first flare & was hospitalized until they got it under control. Every part of me was swollen & hurt...So I really sympathize with dealing with pg. tiredness & having PA on top of it all. I know it will be worth it all when your baby gets here [but that sure makes you tired, too.] Best wishes...Sylvia Boyd <celticangyl@...> wrote:I guess I'm a weirdo...
