Guest guest
Hello, I have had problems with my chest...after all the cardiac test, I was told everything was fine. Thanks for the info!
Guest guest
/Sam, I too have had chest pain since starting some of the heavier duty medicines. I first started on Enbrel in January, and the discomfort in my chest started about 1-2 months later. I changed the Enbrel schedule several times at my rheumy's recommendation, but to no avail. Eventually I went off the Enbrel and started on MTX. Once again I was fine for the first month or so but now the chest sensation has returned. I use the words discomfort and sensation because that is more accurate in my case than calling it outright pain (though it doesn't feel great). It is definitely a weird feeling though. I too have had it called costochondritis but like you also get it in other spots like my throat. I particularly get it in my pectoral muscles, especially on my right side right below where I had my collarbone surgery (hmm, clue there?). And likewise I have no difficulty breathing or any other such effects like that. Now with MTX I am even feeling some of the same sensation in my mid to upper back, but that could be something else going on. All of my episodes seem unrelated to when I take the meds. And for the record, I am currently on a low dose of MTX (12.5 mg), along with Arthrotec 75 twice daily. Also for the record MTX is not currently working nearly as well as the Enbrel did. I go back to see my doctor on Friday so we'll see what he has to say. Harry

Guest guest
Hi , I also have pain in my chest although it has not been as bad recently. It does interfere with my breathing. It is usually bad when I am generally in a bad way but it is definitely the PA. I don't tend to get it any worse after taking MTX (25mg too) I also felt that I had no joy with MTX but they have recently added 200mg of Ciclosporin to that and there seems to be some improvement although not brilliant. I feel better generally but my right knee has swollen and I am still getting a fair bit of pain in my wrists and fingers. Still......can't complain...........Oh yes you can complain ...........ok I will....Lol Seriously though, I hope things improve for you soon. Take care, . Guest guest
Hi , I must agree with Kathy. You've tried the MTX since November, if you have not received any relief, it is well past time for a change of medication and/or doctor. Bless your patience but, If it was going to work, it should have by now. Stay Well,
Guest guest
-Hi Nataie, sam, and harry, I don't know if this pertains to any of you but there is a rare lung disorder that is a side effect of MTX. also...my collar bone and sternum frequently hurt from the pa itself. I even have a lump where my collar bone meets the shoulder....all courtesy of our friendly pa Mart -- In , " whereswjl " <whereswjl@y...> wrote: > /Sam, > > I too have had chest pain since starting some of the heavier duty > medicines. Guest guest
Dear Harry, I get pain mid to upper back too. Again I'm told it's PA. Could be both. I'm a lot less bothered by it now that it doesn't appear to be lethal!! Oh well! We seem to have to expect these things. . > /Sam, > > I too have had chest pain since starting some of the heavier duty > medicines. Guest guest
Dear and Kathy, I've had Arava added to the methotrexate to see if that will beat these flares. If it doesn't work in 2 months I've asked to start on minocylcin too. Something has got to work! As for doctors, I do seem to get much more serious action from my doctor when I bring my husband in as 'back up', hmmmm! Work that one out? Had some more cortisone injections in the feet. It works for a few weeks. But I'm told I can only get the same joint injected 4 times. So I'll be running out of aces soon. Hope the Arava works for everyones sake! > Hi , > I must agree with Kathy.
