HI ,

I went to my allergist today and he is not familiar with Enbrel so if you do

find out anything more please let me know. I never felt like I had asthma but

today he gave me singulair to take. Does anyone know if I can take this with

the Enbrel. I looked it up online and it said that it was a leukotrine

inhibitor. It's funny that this shortness of breath started when I started

Enbrel.

The allergist also said that Vioxx can do this which I also take.

Jane,

I take Accolate which is also a leukotrine inhibitor, I have had asthma all

my life. Accolate allowed me to go camping and do outdoor things I never every

did. I take MTX, Prednisone, Celebrex and Plaquenil, and have no problems.

I tried Singulair but it did not work as well as Accolate. From what I

understand, both of these meds act like immuno-suppressant too, so be careful

around

any bugs/germs.

Take Care,

Carol M.

,

Welcome to the group. I haven't experienced shortness of breath, but it can

be a side effect of the Enbrel

I have had a wonderful experience with Enbrel. I have been on it since

February 14, 2003. I had an immediate response, literally overnight. I am still

taking MTX along with it, and probably will continue to do so, as my rheumy has

found in other patients that the Enbrel works better the MTX. I have had only

one site reaction, a small rash about the size of a dime, that lasted about a

day. The rash occurred because I drew up more than 1 mg, and in getting the air

bubbles out, some of the the Enbrel slipped down the side of the needle. It

was no biggy, and the rash didn't itch. Other than feeling like a giant pin

cushion for injecting both MTX and Enbrel, I feel great. My pain is 90-95% gone.

I

have started to lose weight because I'm not eating my pain away. Enbrel has

truly been a wonder drug for me. I hope it remains so for a long time to come.

I hope the same happens for you.

Carol,

That is what I was afraid of. I thought that singulair was an

immuno-suppressant as well as the fact that I am on Enbrel. I have it here but

I am going

to try not to take it unless absolutely necessary.

Janet,

I have the exact same problem (shortness of breath) and I am on Enbrel too. I

get wheezing. A couple of months ago I did a spirometer test and didn't do to

well my GP gave me singulair to take and I did fine on it.

take care,

My doctor just gave me the singulair but he also said that vioxx can cause

shortness of breath. I have not take it since he said that on Tuesday and I

feel better. It may be a coincidence but I am going to start the vioxx again

and

see if it is related.
