Unused Enbrel

Hello Everyone

I recently received a shipment of Enbrel (6 boxes, 4 doses/box),

but there was a FedEx problem and it arrived a day late. I could

not confirm that the temperature in the cooler remained in the

required temp range, so just to be sure, my insurance co is

sending a new shipment.

Now, the cooler was cool when I opened it, but the ice packs

were melted. Cold packs, but not solid. It is likely that the doses

are just fine. So I am uncomfortable just throwing them out. Do

any of you know about that organization someone mentioned a

while back that accepts Rx donations? I would like to donate

these to someone if possible.

Thanks

Mika

Hi Mika,

It is against the law for you to dispense medicine. In the unlikely event

someone became sick or died from the Enbrel you gave them, you could be sued.

It is not worth the risk even if you knew with a 100% certainty that the

medicine was safe to use. You should either return the unused Enbrel to the

manufacturer, destroy it or turn it over to your physician. I suggest you call

the

manufacturer and ask them for a recommendation regarding its disposal.
