I think they help me. Yep...pa related. I was on daypro years ago and if I remember right it helped the pain but not as much as some of the other NSAIDS. Guest guest
Dear Liz, I've had PA for over 6 years and only have had ankle problems in the past year. It started out with edema in my ankles, which in part was caused by inflammation and in part by congestive heart failure. (Luckily I have the mild form and am not in any real danger as long as I take care of myself) Once I got that under control I started having problems with the bottom of my heels and it turned out I have bone spurs causing all sorts of inflammation. I saw a foot doctor and am now using inserts to take the pressure off of the heel and it does seem to help some. I think it's called plantar fascititis. Then about a month ago my ankles started aching and it felt different and more muscular. It turned out it was tendonitis and I know all of this is a result of the PA. Before I developed PA, I never had problems with my feet. I don't' know if this is what you wanted to hear, but I would bet your ankle problems are a result of your PA. I've never tried the drugs you are currently on, so I can't give you any support there. I am on Predinsone, which helps quite a bit, but I'm trying to wean myself off of it due to all the horrible side effects. I also just took my first injection of Humira and am very hopeful it will help me. By the way, on the Achilles tendon.mine just finally went away. I think I did increase my predinsone from 15mg to 20 mg for about 3 days, but other than that it seemed to disappear on it's own. I wish you luck. I know how painful feet problems can be. Take care and I hope you feel better soon. Sincerely, Fran [ ] dayrpo/pain in back of heel I'm still trying to learn all I can about this disease, but it looks like there is a lot to know. I was changed from the indocin to daypro. Has anyone used that before? Did it help the pain? I have been noticing a lot of pain at the back of my heel (about 1.5 inches from the ground). It has bothered me off and on for a while. It wasn't bothering me when I saw Dr. Ritchlin so I didn't mention it to him, and I didn't think it was related to pa anyway because it's not a joint. But someone had said that people with pa might have trouble with their Achilles tendon. Has anyone ever had any trouble in that area? Was it related to pa? Guest guest
Hi. I am coming in to this email late so I hope I am not suggesting something you have heard already but...I have bone spurs in both feet/heels (that hurt on/off, is very strange) and my doctor suggested always wearing very good fitting supportive shoes. My favorite shoes are " none " or flip flops. When I did try better shoes it did help to " mask " some of the pain. Good Luck to you! (Va.) Guest guest
, Unfortunately, I agree with you. I love to go bare foot, but the unstability of it has been my " down fall " 2 times in the last 2 days! The Dr. recommends " good " shoes and has allowed me to wear Birkenstock sandals or ones that have a good heel cup and more than 1 strap. I am having heel pain as well as unstability in the 3rd or 4th joint in my left foot and it feels like the bones are all coming apart. So I am working real hard to remember to put on good shoes.
