Guest guest
Mike, 1-Do not stop your medications while taking the antibiotic approach. Stop gradually after you feel better. 2-It takes 6 or more months to feel a difference. See the " Polls " on how long it took to feel a noticable difference: rheumatic/ Hank
Guest guest
Sylvia, are you sure it was clonidine that you are speaking of????? Clonidine is a any antihypertension drugs use to control blood pressure. As far I know, it not an antibiotic. Perhaps, you were thinking of something with a similar sounding name. Guest guest
Carol, you'd have had a real hoot if'd known me when I was 19 years old & doing medical transcription for a organization then called " Crippled Chilrdren's Commission " . Over the years it's name was changed to one with more sensitivity. However, I'd never used a dictaphone & thought I had to just type like crazy and then retype and respell when I got the letters off the machine. One day, someone leaned over and whispered, " You can turn it off with the footpeddle. " Also I was taking medical and social dictation, but it had amazingly little resemblance to Gregg [especially since I'd had one year of college in between my shorthand classes in highschool.] I only worked there three months, but amazingly I wasn't fired, but was promoted. Guest guest
I have seen over and over with the kids I work with that antibiotics for ear infections are ineffective and cause a nasty cycle of repeat infections. Better to treat naturally with garlic oil (try Willow Ear Oil from Herbs for Kids) and probiotics; breastmilk in the ear if you nurse or can get your hands on it; and search the back messages for Sheri's articles on homeopathic remedies for this. There are tons of options besides antibiotics - that would be my very last resort. Melinda C.

Often ear infections are diagnosed just from redness and that doesn't mean infection And ear infections have been found to resolve in the same time with or without antibiotics Antibiotics destroy healthy bacteria in the gut and who knows what else They suppress the immune system. Homeopathy and other things work very nicely. Guest guest
Hi. I am still breastfeeding and have been squirting milk in his ears. I did put eucalyptus oil in our vaporizer. Thanks for all your suggestions! Alissa From: Sue <mum2mishka@...> Subject: Re: Re: Antibiotics?? Vaccinations Date: Monday, February 16, 2009, 8:25 PM Don't suppose you're still breastfeeding, are you? Breastmilk is marvellous for ear infections. Garlic oil too, and diluted eucalyptus oil. Plenty of natural remedies before you turn to antibiotics. If he eats dairy, reduce or eliminate it for the time being - it stimulates mucuc production and aggravates ear problems. Did the doctor take samples from his ears for analysis of bacteria, or did he just say " ear infection " after a quick look? Ear infection is a different thing to ear inflammation, which might be all he saw. Sheri has wonderful articles on ear problems - I'll see what I can find and send on. And yes, ear infections clear up very nicely on their own. Does he have a fever with it? Any other symptoms? Sue x -- Re: Re: Antibiotics? ? Thanks! I do have the children's Hylands starter pack. Guest guest
No, you do NOT need antibiotics for an ear infection. You can stop now with no harm. I can guarantee you that the doctor has no idea if there is actually an infection. Did he/she take some fluid to culture it? Of course not. No doctor is going to routinely puncture the ear drum. They merely give antibiotics, and when the symptoms go away, they declare that the antibiotics worked. There are two reasons they call it an ear infection: redness or fluid buildup. But neither means it's an infection. It could just as easily be an allergy or merely irritation from the cold. I would give homeopathic meds, and I use a product called Larix that you can mix in juice. Cut out all dairy, use a vaporizer for the cold and it should be over in no time. Winnie Antibiotics?? Guest guest
Isn't it just maddening?!!! Just like w/ fever: given Tylenol. Fever goes away. bravo. Medicine works. Forget that the fever is there for a purpose. Nah. Couldn't be. The body just wants to drive you nuts and make you worry. Just for the hell of it. it's bored. Needs a distraction. And then doctors wonder about abx resistance?! Oh puhleeeeeze.
