Guest guest
Maybe this will help you because when I got pregnant with my second child, the psoriasis cleared up completely. It was went away and I had great skin. As soon as I delivered it came back again and got worse and worse. This makes me believe that hormones actually have an effect on it. Guest guest
Wow, trying to have a child post metho.... still trying to pick my jaw up.... I've had 5 docs both dermies, rheumies, and pcp tell me NO... if at any given time I take methotrexate, having a child is no longer an option for me. Guest guest
-- How brave to go off all you meds. I don't have an answer about nonsteroids for psoriasis but I wash with T-Gel, not just my hair but anywhere I have spots. I lather up the areas and leave it on for a few minutes -- all of them. It doesn't cure but it helps the itching and flaking some. I also dry " everywhere " with a blow dryer. That was suggested by my dermatologist who also said to take cooler showers instead of the long hot ones I prefer. Good Luck, Cheri [ ] I need help on which creams help! I have been off my meds, methotrexate and vioxx, since Nov. 22 because I want to try to have a baby. Of course I will wait until three months since I have been off the meds before I try to make sure all the meds are out of my system. Anyway, my arthritis has not been bothering me as much as when I first got off vioxx; however, my psoriasis has gotten worse. I am not using any steroid creams because I don't want that in my system. I did find this 3% salicylic acid clear cream called Dermarest, but it has not improved anything. My scalp is itching and my elbows hurt and itch. I need some relief. I know that winter weather can make it worse, but I do live in FL. Does any one know of anything that can relieve the reddness, scaly pathches, and the constant itching without any harmful steroids? Please, help me if you can. I have seen ads in the coupons in the paper that state their product cures psoriasis and it costs $100. Also, does vitamin E oil help at all? If anyone has any answers, let me know.
Guest guest
, How close are you to the coast? I live in FL too and when its really bad, a day at the beach in the water seems to help clear me up for a week or so...when its too cold to swim I use sea salts in the bath (Origins has a sea salt bath). Guest guest
, My psoriasis are so bad I don't even go to the beach anymore.. I also live in Florida. I am trying to find a new rheumatologist as I really don't like the one my primary doctor sent me to. Guest guest
I have been to three different Rheums since I have been diagnosed with this disease (one was a Vanderbilt University Dr.), and I have asked each one about having a child post MTX. (which I have never been on MTX at this point) The first 2 said there is NO scientific evidence that proves having a child post MTX is dangerous to the patient or the child, as long as you go off of MTX for atleast 6 months before trying to have a child. The third (my current Dr.) said he has never had a patient have a problem with bearing children post MTX, BUT although there is no scientific evidence that bearing a child is dangerous (to the patient or fetus) after MTX, he would agree with me not wanting to go on MTX until I have a child. He said more for fertility issues than anything else. He said in a FEW rare cases fertility has been a problem. (this is from case studies in medical journals according to him) I have NEVER had a Dr. tell me that having kids after MTX is a problem. I even asked ALL of them if they have patients who have had successful births after taking MTX for year, and they have all said they have tons of patients like that. Stefanie, please ask your Doctors again, because this just doesn't sound like any of the information I have been given... and the Dr.'s I have been to don't know each other from Adam. (some were in TN and some were in NC) I couldn't imagine a Dr. giving a JRA patient MTX if it was going to cause them to never have kids again. I do have one friend that has successfully had a perfectly healthy baby girl after being on MTX a few year. It is VERY important to be off of it for 6 months before trying. (according to all Dr.'s I have spoken to) I could see where some Dr.'s might think 3 months is enough time to get it out of your system. Note: In my own personal opinion, I would even go a step further than suggests - I'd dump the dumb rheumy altogether and look for another one. My reasoning is that if he gives such lousy advice on MTX vs child-bearing, I wouldn't be able to trust anything else he might say. In fact, if Stefanie will send me his name & address, I'd like to put him in the " NOT Recommended " doctors category in our database. Guest guest
'Now I'm confused too...my doctor said it's safe to have a a baby if you stop the methotrexate for 6 months prior to conceiving. Does anyone think once you took it, you should never try pregnancy? --- Boyd <celticangyl@...> wrote: > Wow, trying to have a child post metho.... still > trying to pick my jaw > up.... Guest guest
I could use the name of the rheumatologist in Orlando. I personally don't like the one I currently go to. Please email me privately and send the name and phone number. Thank you. Guest guest
, I go to Dr Maclay on Hiawassee....she doesn't take insurance, but I submit the claims and because I always spend more than my out of pocket limit for my insurance anyway the insurance ends up paying the same amount. Maclay sees mostly chronic fatigue, fibromyalgia and unusual diagnoses. I had gone to many, many docs before I found her and she diagnosed me in the first 5 minutes I saw her. The first visit with her is 3 hours, then each subsequent appt is 1 full hour. Her treatment philosophy is anti-meds if possible, and she uses alternatives like physical therapy, paraffin wax treatments (argues with the insurance co if necessary to get it covered). But she's also happy to prescribe meds if you want to go that route. She also believes in patient education and will give you a reading list if you wish. She has been a lifesaver for me. Avoid a doc at FL hospital named Sladek. He told me I needed a psychiatrist....I was in pain and my nails in full PA glory when I saw him.... Guest guest
, Have your nails gone back to normal, since you have been on this diet? Where in FL is this Dr? She sounds so cool! Guest guest
Diet has not helped my nails, but when I cheat, I have much more fatigue than when I stay off gluten. The doctor is in Orlando, Florida, and she is one of a kind!
