Guest guest
I have Hypothyroid(low output) and take Levoxyl. I think that there is a connection. If untreated I think that it can worsen arthritis symptoms. Be sure to get it taken care of. > Just wondering how many of you with PA also have damaged thryroids? Mine quit before the other signs of PA [only P]. I guess autoimmune stuff can strike most anything.

The P started way before but the thyroid and PA started around the same time Janet
Guest guest
Had thyroid cancer in 1990. I already had P and now realize I had had several flares of PA. My thyroid was damaged by modern medicine. I had a slightly overactive thyroid nodule and so an endocrinologist gave me radioactive iodine to drink. It killed the nodule off but also damaged my thyroid gland so that I have to supplement for the rest of my life. Am I bitter? A little bit. Back then if I had known what I know now, I would have tried other less brutal means first. Elfstrom
Guest guest
I don't have a damaged thyroid, but thyroid problems run in my family. My mom's was overactive and had to be shrunk with radioactive iodine, her sister's thyroid quit functioning, and my dad has low thyroid. I also test on the low side of normal in my thyroid function tests. Guest guest
Hi, In June 1998 I had surgery to remove my first parathyroid gland. This operation was needed because I had been taking prednisone for asthma and PA since 1994. Then in February 2001 I had surgery to remove my second parathyroid gland, because I was still taking prednisone, which I finally stopped taking regularly in September 2002. Between 6/30/98 and 9/25/98, after my first parathyroid surgery in 1998, I had both double hip and double knee replacement surgeries at the age of 55. Now in 2003, I am taking Remicade every six weeks with good results. Sincerely, Bill Reid
Guest guest
That's quite a few of us...hypothroidism, high blood pressure, metabolic syndrome [which sounds better than concentrations of fat cells in the tummy and waist area]....and we get to have PA, too. rachelviognier@... wrote:Hi, me too on the thyroid... Guest guest
Jens, I take levoxyl for my thyroid. My problems with the thyroid date back 20 years before a diagnosis of PA. I do not believe the maladies are related. Joe [ ] thyroids? > Just wondering how many of you with PA also have damaged thryroids? Mine quit before the other signs of PA [only P].
