Guest guest
From what I understand it is the mtx with preservatives that is difficult to get. My pharmacy finally broke down and got the one without preservatives for me. My DR said he prefers the one without and that as long as I store it in the fridge and be careful to clean the top of the bottle each time I use it it will be fine Check and see if that will be possible for you. jerre > > > Just heard from my pharmacy that they can no longer get the > injectable version of Methotrexate. Guest guest
cathy, that's awful. i hope things will work out for you. a thought (don't know if it's a good one) has just come to me. do you know whether the injectable version of mtx is no longer going to be produced, or alternatively, that your pharmacy's supplier just can't get it? the reason i ask is that you mention you are in the buffalo area - that's not too far from the Canadian border. if the needle- version of the mtx is still available up here, and all else fails, perhaps you could cross the line and get your meds here in canada... just a thought. good luck, karen > > > Just heard from my pharmacy that they can no longer get the > injectable version of Methotrexate. Guest guest
Jerre - Just got off the phone with Main Pharma the current " owner " of the injectable MTX (rights used to be owned by Xenodyne). Apparently there is a problem with obtaining the raw ingredients that make-up MTX and they are checking other suppliers for making it. Effective the end of Dec, they will have the 2 ml bottle with preservative available again. As of now, unless a pharmacy has some, there is no " new " supply available. I did find a pharmacy in Canada that has it, however, we came up with another solution to the problem... They have powdered MTX available. I can pick up a bottle of sterile saline, inject the saline into the powder, mix it up well and instant preservative free injectable MTX. Why it took 5 hours and multiple phone calls to solve the problem is beyond me, but at least there is an answer for all of us who do the shots. Makes me worry for people who don't or can't advocate for themselves. Thank you for your input.
Guest guest
Was his prior x-rays taken laying down or standing up? That could be the difference. Not sure an accurately applied cast wouldn't hold the same number throughout the casting period. I find that strange, but I'm no doctor. In his out-of-cast xray right before the Mehta cast was 53* and right after it was applied, his spine measured 30*! We were so thrilled and encouraged!Tomorrow he is scheduled for Mehta cast #2. We were in the office today to have a final xray taken and have the current cast cut off. His in-cast xray today was 57* - this is the same cast that he measured 30* in 2 months ago. We were told that this is pretty normal and that it's an indicator that it's time for a new cast. Has anyone else had x-rays done at the beginning and also at the end of the same cast? With the Risser, we only took one x-ray per cast so have nothing to compare. We're convinced we're doing the right thing, just scared that we're losing the battle, and are anxious to see what his x-ray will look like tomorrow in the new cast. Thanks,Patrice
Guest guest
That's a good question, Jane - thanks. I'll be sure to ask tomorrow about that first in-cast xray.
