Guest guest
Hi Jakie, I attend Inverclyde Royal in Greenock which is only 5 min away by car. It was a Glasgow hospital I was diagnosed in although it took over a year to suss it. It started on my left heel, felt it immediately after running in cross country race over six miles. I thought it was just an injury I had picked up (which strangely enough would have been the first serious injury I ever had. I spent the next year going between my own GP, various hospitals and , the Physio who's been in the news recently. I counted something like eleven other athletes who visited him with me over that period and they would come away after a couple of visits saying, " That guy is great, my leg/thigh/calf/foot, etc is much better " I was wondering why I just appeared to be getting worse. Eventually got a diagnosis in Glasgow though and initially went on to various anti-inflammatories none of which seemed to work until I tried Indocid(150mg daily). They eventually put me on to Myocrisin (Gold) which worked well for a few years but eventually lost its potency. So for the past three years or so I have been on MTX(25mg weekly) and more recently they have added Ciclosporin (200mg daily) and still Indocid. My Rheumy in Inverclyde is Dr Marshall he is excellent. I am also seeing Professor McInness(Sp) in Glasgow Royal Infirmary So that's basically it. What about you? Yes, it's that time...... Jakie..............This is your (PA) life! Cheers,
Guest guest
Sorry to hear your A is so bad. But don't get me wrong, I am in pain most of the time. I have started to wake up at night with an extremely painful pain in my lower back. It wakes me up and then i can't get back to sleep coz I can't lie any way to stop it being painful and is even sore when i breath. Its funny because I never have this pain during the day. maybe for about an hour in the mornings after i get up but never after that which is wierd?!?! I don't know. PA is a funny disease. Yesterday I could have ran a mile and today i can't even get out of my chair at work coz im in so much pain. But life is too short to complain all the time so i'll take it that if im bad today HOPEFULLY i won't be as bad tomorrow. So Janet lets hope that some day in the near future you can do some serious damage to those stores(and your credit card!!1) and shop till ya drop........lol Take care Keelin PS. I tried the sunbeds for my P but it didn't do any good although I have heard that it works very well for some people....so keep it up and GOOD LUCK. fam24@... wrote: In a message dated 9/13/2004 7:27:40 PM Eastern Standard Time, keelinconnolly79@... writes: Have alot of pain after various activities.......such as a whole days shopping, walking from shop to shop can be hard ya know, lol........ Guest guest
Hi again Keelin, Its funny how the Sun helps some people's P and not others. In fact it can make some people worse as you say. It helped me but I am now on Ciclosporin and my Derm told me strictly no Sun or Sunbeds while on it. You Wrote: The arthritis is painful but my psoriasis is pure torture. I can keep it covered up most of the time, haven't got it on my face or anything but I have it on my scalp, forearms and pretty much every where else. People tell me its not to bad but to me its just horrible. I am more or less the same. People will say that to me too. " Its not too bad " or if I am talking about how I would like to go swimming but I'm too embarrassed to do so. They will tell me not to worry about it, that if it was them they would just go. I can't help feeling though, that if I did not suffer from P and was talking to someone who did, I would probably say the same thing. Oh Oh............I'm starting to moan again so I will stop before I get into full swing Lol Good to hear that you are feeling not too bad just now. Hope it keeps up. Take care,
