Guest guest
THANK YOU to everyone who wrote to me offering advice, support and encouragement. I will try to reply to everyone individually over the next week. One terrific lady rang me last night from the other end of the country, and has told me of the Rheumatologist who is the Australian expert in PA who is in Sydney (just gotta raise the cash to get there) and about some pain meds that have worked for her and are available here. I really appreciate this group. I love the way people support and encourage each other, and share news of what works etc. God bless you all, Greg. been removed] [Editor's Note: Greg, you are most welcome! Thank you for letting us know we've been helpful. We hope you will become a regular contributor to this forum. Please (if you don't mind) keep us up to date with you ( & your PA); I'm sure the membership will want to know how you're doing, help you avoid any pitfalls, etc. I have a question for you: I'm curious as to which pain meds aren't available in Australia. In dialogues with Down Under members, I've been told by one person that methadone isn't available, and by another, that it is. Also, I'm not sure whether Oxycontin is possible to get; and last year, one of your countrymen was looking for something that would help control his excruciating pain, and I recommended Avinza (sustained release morphine sulphate). If you can clear up what really is not available, it would help me advise others. Thanks. D.
Guest guest
Wow Greg. I'm shocked that your doc confirmed that you have broken bones on top of all the other problems and they STILL won't give you proper pain control. I am sending major prayers up for you that this new rheumy is going to be a perfect doctor for you and get you back some quality of life. As far as the government doc, if he doesn't see with all these results that you deserve the disability pension then he must be blind! I will be watching for you post to see how everything goes, I'm pulling for ya! Axelrod
Guest guest
Greg, Sounds as if you and I have alot in common when it comes to our illness. It is one hard road but I have had these problems since the age of 5 years old but I am still pressing on. I have spurs all over my body so bad but I especiallly have alot of neck problems. Doc took x-rays and besides all of the bones deteraratimg I have big old spurs all over neck and spine. One spur is in my throat and the Dr. is very concerned over it. He is afraid it will grow and cut off my swallowling. He said he would not begin to touch it and it would be a very serious operation if they even could operate. Please do not think in terms of being in a wheelchair. Try to think positive Greg. I know it is very hard to do but when I was in my twenties my Dr. said by the time I turned 40 I would be in a wheeel chair. I made my self determined I would show him he was wromg. I am now 50 and still walking on my own. Somedays it is hard too but I make myself go on. I even try to walk a mile a day . Since he told me this 20 some years ago I have came down with alot more PA in my feet plus I am a diabetc and have a bad case od Neuopathy in legs and feet plus extra bones in my feet plus spurs all over my feet. In fact, I have a big spur grown over a nerve and pressing on the nerve now . I have fought depression all my life and I know how all this gets one down but look around you and really see the beauty and the love given to us each day. Enjoy the new family you have here and except all the support and love all give you. Together we can make it. In this walk of life with all of us here in the same boat when one cries out in pain we stop and carry you on down the road until you are able to walk with us. We care and please except us as we are each one of us needing each other to help use thru each big rock in the road we can't get over unless someone helps. We are here for you Greg Blessings upon you, Zoella. " If you think you are too small to make a difference, you have never been in bed with a mosquito. Guest guest
my rheumy wont' give me pain meds... the max she will give me is Darvon... which doesn't do squat to touch the pain, I think the vicodin es does better, but she won't prescribe pain meds period... dunno why either.
