for the little pleasures in life, and the 'tricks of the trade " we

have learned, albeit through trial and error, to make life just a

little bit easier.

i'm so sorry for what happened to you last night... so many 'normal'

people just don't have a clue, do they... and the various rules &

regs of outfits such as ToysRus don't take into consideration the

needs of individuals such as ourselves who have disabilities... i

can see how this was upsetting for you and totally understand, and

agree.

, I really wasn't upset, I was kidding...shoot, only a few short years

ago, I would have thought someone pushing a buggy out to the car with one

little game in it was nuts too! However, if anyone from ToysRUs is

listening...I would have spent a heck of a lot more money if you'd had an

electric cart for me to ride around in!!!!!!!!

I spent a few minutes in the lab today....there was an older woman

(remember, I'm no spring chicken, so you know she was old)...bless her

heart, she had soooooo many more problems than I've ever thought about

having...personal problems that seemed almost beyond description, and she

had RA so badly in her hands that it was pitiful....trying to care for a

mentally and physically handicapped older, adult daughter with her gnarled

hands and as old as she is....I'm not complaining about squat for the rest

of the holiday season. She did say that during this horrible ordeal with

her daughter....coma, cancer, tumors, more brain damage, etc...that her

hands had not hurt. She had had problems for years (her hands were terribly

deformed) but was convinced that her god had taken away the pain while she

handled the immediate crisis. The pain had returned of course, but for a

while she had not been in any pain...makes you wonder, doesn't it?

whenever i'm having a personal pity party (would somebody please

bring on the cheese to go with the whine) i try to remember what

someone once told me: " you may have a stubbed toe, but the guy

sitting next to you has no foot " ... it smartens me up quick...

last year when i was at the rehab hospital there was a woman there -

she was 77. she'd had RA since she was a small child and her hands

were so deformed it was amazing watching her at dinner time - she

could use a fork just as well as anyone else - just with a different

technique , everything else in her body had acted up at one time or

another - she'd had 37 operations in her lifetime, some RA related,

some not... she'd also had quite a few personal tragedies. she was

there to learn exercise techniques, learn new modalities at

occupational therapy, etc. by the end of her stay she could walk

(with the help of a walker) much better than when she came in. the

amazing thing was her spirit... she never gave up and always had a

smile on her face. the story about this poor woman you met made me

think of her. the story is very sad indeed - and i'd like to think

you are probably right that God helped her through the crisis with

her daughter... although sad, it is, at the same time, inspiring...

Hi, I am so sorry you had such the trouble with decorating your trees.

I am sorry, I had to laugh at some of your humor but at the same time I

could see how you were frustrated that you couldn't do the things that

you used to do. I hope that by now, as I am behind on posts, that your

loving daughter has been over to help you fix the trees up again.

Dear Carla, thanks for the email. Actually, my daughter just left

yesterday. And you were right, she helped me fix everything. I know so

many people complain about young people today and how they don't have any

responsibility or respect, but somehow I really lucked out with my girls.

I try to thank God for them every night. I doubt very much I'd be here

without their support. Thanks again Carla, and it was one heck of a day.

Hi Fran ! How are you???? Can your daughters come to my house?

Our tree has been up for days but we just can't seem to get it

decorated ! Seriously, I'm glad your daughters were able to help

you...
