Guest guest
Hi and Just a few little things about stress that you may be interested in. Stress makes all auto-immune diseases worse because of Mast cells. When our bodies are under stress they are subjected to Hormone release, this in turn activates mast cells to release TNF. Mast cells are a major player in Arthritis along with B cells and T cells. If you take out all of the mast cells in a rat it cannot get Arthritis!!! This has been proven recently. If Mast cells are under hormonal influence (stress to you and me) they release more TNF. as we already are aware TNF reduction means less pain ! TNF increase means more pain. so when we get stressed our arthritis gets worse because of those pesty little mast cells! Another amazing thing about mast cells is that they are the number one cause of allergies !!! Asthma, Stings, IBS, shellfish, peanut and the like. I liken arthritis to an allergy (our bodies are reacting to something as yet unknown) maybe that is the link? maybe not, one thing is certain though and that is that people who have sensitive mast cells also are the most likely to get allergies to all kinds of things, taking me as an example I am allergic to dust mites.perfume, copper and detergents whereas my wife has none! so who's to say that our friendly little mast cells are not reacting in the same kind of way in ARTHRITS? The best clue to me is that Mast cells are found in huge numbers under the skin, in connective tissue, and also in the mucosal tissues We already pretty much know what causes the mast cell reaction in Allergies, now all they need to do is find out what is going on in the joints and skin that are full of mast cells. It's worth doing a google search on Mast cells and arthritis it really is interesting stuff !! Guest guest
-Thanks, , You explain it really well. I noticed, in our last newslettr there was an article about a cancer med that targetted the B cells. What can you tell me about B cells ? I know Adam's son would know too!! I'm wondering if this med might provide help to the people for whom the biologics don't help.....if I have it right...the biologics target one type of T cells. How's the soccer going? Guest guest
Micky -- Thanks for the terrific information on stress. I always thought it was a bunch of hooey but I am rapidly becoming a believer in stress = pain & damage. I printed your explanation and will keep it where I can read it often. Guest guest
All my doctors agree the severe stress triggers PA itself, and PA flare-ups. It seems to be the accepted wisdom in Australia. I went to see the neuro surgeon about the spur of bone digging into my spinal chord yesterday. I have never met a more ignorant, rude and arrogant man. He looked at only two (out of 12) pages of the MRI scans (Cervical spine 6/7) and pronounced that there was nothing wrong with me and accused me of wanting an unnecessary operation. My jaw hit the floor. I couldn't believe it. Four other specialists, including the Radiologist who wrote the report on the MRI scans showing the serious problem in the 3/4 area, agree that I have a dangerous and serious problem requiring urgent surgery. I have lost the use of my left arm due the nerve reactions - total pins and needles to the point that I cannot use it at all and cannot sleep because of it. More nerves to my stomach and below are being affected as well leading to further pain and discomfort. As if PA and Fibromyalgia weren't enough ! I am seeing another different Neuro-surgeon next Wednesday. The lesson here for everybody is obvious - Go for the second opinion ! Don't just accept what one doctor says. I lost my wife to cancer because we believed an out of date doctor until it was too late. Keep trying. Fight the good fight.! Blessings and best wishes to all. Greg. Guest guest
-Greg, We have found that a lot of doctors are very arogant. I sure hope you find a good doctor and soon, and so sorry about your wife. a

Guest guest
Hi Greg, I can't believe how idiotic some of these doctors are. How does he decide that four other Specialists and the MRI scans are wrong and he is right! Take care, . PS: Did he not even change his mind when he saw your jaw hitting the floor?Lol
