Guest guest
Must we continue to go on about only having to pay $60. for a drug that costs $1200. that can be very depressing for those of us who have no insurance. Kind of like when you are working a 15 hour day and a person who is working 4 tells you every 15 minutes how much time they have left when you know you will have 11 hours past that. Orin [Ed. As a matter of fact I have helped many with information as to how they can get aid to help with the astronomical cost of these drugs that we need. I am sorry that you took it in any other way. But sharing information, I feel, about our co-pays and such is helpful in that if you are paying high co-pays you can go to your insurance provider and dispute your cost based on average co-pays with different co-pays that are lower or that cover the drug period. For example in Texas only pays $5 for a 90 day supply and we both carry BCBS so I have asked my insurance person as to why the co-pay varied from BCBS plan to plan. Again this info is not to boast. And I felt your comment was hurtful to me because anything that I post is my experience whether it be about insurance costs, symptoms, success and failures with treatment and to get support not slaps in the face. Also, I feel that it is outrageous what the drug industry is charging for much needed drugs. I have been an advocate to try and get more companies to pick up cost for people with no insurance or those who have high out-of-pocket deductibles/co-pays. I am sorry that you are hurt by my post on my own cost of my drugs or by this response. I have a few resources that can help with drug cost if you are interested in knowing about them (or if anyone else needs them) feel free to contact me directly at CND110370@.... I have said this before...take what I say and take out of it what can help you and the rest leave as a grain of salt.
Guest guest
I pay $9.00 for a three month mail order supply of Enbrel, $27 at the local drug store. With all the various costs being written about for the same exact medication, is there any doubt we need some sort of national program for these and other meds? Guest guest
The only bad thing about my $5 copay is that I pay $575 per month for insurance using Cobra because I lost my job. When that runs out, I'd better have another job or I am in big trouble! Guest guest
You might try contacting the Pharmaceutical Companies. Sometimes they have programs for people who don't have insurance. Peace Randi

It was a moment of jealousy and rage. I wished I could have reeled that one back in after I had sent it. It is a good thing to discuss insurance costs so that a person who might be shopping for insurance can weigh the options. It's hard to accept sometimes that there are many good medicines that may help but they cost as much as I make so they are completely out of the question. Again I am sorry for attacking the way I did and in the future I will try to moderate my personal feelings on behalf of the group in its entirety. Think twice, send once. Orin [Ed. Copays vary plan to plan because it depends what plan your place of employment chooses for its employees. My insurance company is Kaiser Permanente, and they have 5 different group plans and various individual plans. The copays range from $2 per prescription and $2 per doctor's office visit to $15 per generic prescription, $25 per name brand prescription, and $15 per office visit. If you order prescriptions by mail, you can get a 3-month supply for the cost of 2 months. It just depends on what plan you have. Orin > > > Orin, Thank you for your gracious apology. It takes a big person to say they are sorry. It is very frustrating that the meds we need are so costly. I face this with some of the 12 different drugs I have to take. The only NSAID that I can take is Bextra and on my insurance it is non preferred drug and a 30 day supply cost me as much as my 90 day supply of Enbrel. Crazy isn't it. Again, I do have some links and numbers for Rx assistance if you are interested just E-mail me personally and maybe we can be helpful to each other. Thanks and best of luck! Guest guest
My Va insurance only pays 75 per cent outside the Va. But I went to Drayer and they waived the co-pay. I know that Drayer will do anything to help you be able to keep going for therapy. I was just going to stay at home and do it on my own. I'm glad I didn't. ________________________________ From: Lynn <lynnf_99@...> Joint Replacement Sent: Sat, June 5, 2010 7:13:37 PM Subject: Re: Insurance copay  Yes, Barb, my copay is $20 per visit.  Lynn We are all here for a spell; get all the good laughs you can. - Will , American Humorist                   Here's my art blog: http://www.adreamseyeview.blogspot.com/ From: Waspe <mary.waspe@...> Subject: Re: support at home. Guest guest
My insurance company lets the doctor decide how many sessions you need. Usually give you 8 to begin with and then add more if needed. Guest guest
Right you are, Barb, if the doc says more, then usually you get more. But I could only get 8 in-home PT sessions after surgery. If memory serves, the estimate of benefits the insurance company sends me on each claim, they've paid $100 for a PT session.
