I attribute my good fortune to regular sleep habits with little or no deviation. All of the leading sleep experts reccommend the same thing. GO to bed at the same time every night and get up at the same time every morning. Most likely giving yourself 8-9 hours of sleep every night. I go to bed every night at 10pm and get up at 5:45am. This fits my work schedule and I rarely feel tired. On weekends, I try not to shift this schedule too much, mostly only by an hour or so, I go to bed at 11pm , get up at 7am. On the rare occaision, that I must deviate from this, I do feel it, and it takes a few days to get back to schedule. Find what works for you and don't deviate. Yes, my friends call me boring & old, but If I didn't follow my schedule, I probably wouldn't be much fun to be around anyway. Good luck, Stay Well,
Guest guest
Hey! I've noticed a similar thing myself. I teach, so I'm off work (Ha) in the summer. During the school year, I'll sleep in late on the weekends and feel real groggy like you described. This summer I thought I'd sleep in a lot, but my Chihuahua had different plans for me. She's been getting me up early in the mornings (every day) since school got out. I actually feel better when I go ahead and stay up. I feel really groggy on the days that I take a lot of naps too! Guest guest
I can relate to the sleeping so soundly........my teens were " banned " from coming in and asking me any questions while I was napping, because I'd say o.k. to anything and then not remember anything about the conversation when I woke up!!! Now, sleeping at night is a totally different thing.....I wake up at the least little things and sometimes am up a while before I can go back to sleep. It's not so bad right now (I'm off work in the summer because I teach), but during the school year it's hard when you've finally fallen asleep for and hour and a half and the alarm goes off to get up for work. Mine seems to come in cycles, then go away for awhile. Do you have trouble all the time, or does it cycle? Jackie
Guest guest
Jackie, I know what you mean about sleeping so soundly...I've even awakened in the morning in the same position I fell asleep in...and very stiff and sore! I work four 9-hour days per week, so on my day off on Friday I take time for an afternoon nap to catch up on the exhaustion. For some reason, during that nap I have the most vivid, bizarre dreams and again, sleep so deeply that I have a hard time coming out of it. Last Friday while I was sleeping, the phone rang. I usually have it nearby, but then I didn't. Anyway, I'm glad my 17-year old son wasn't there to see me putting the tv remote to my ear and pushing the buttons

Guest guest
Hi Marti, That is so wierd, that's a good description of the kind of dreams I'm having. I know I'm asleep and having a dream and keep telling myself to open my eyes. It's kind of creepy! Guest guest
Oh boy, do I know that feeling. I find it easier not to sleep than to wake up. No matter what I do, I can't ever seem to sleep at 'proper' times. I can't ever get to sleep before 4 or 5am, and rarely wake up by myself, before 4pm. It gets really frustrating, as you can imagine My siblings and parents both say it's impossible to wake me up once I've fallen asleep, it's like trying to wake the dead. In fact, it's 4.44am here now, and I can't sleep. I think maybe the disease attacks us more when we're tired? I always find the pain is worse during the night than the day. If I stay awake until about 7pm the following night, up until about 3, I'll be fine, fresh as a daisy. But I fall asleep around 7, and don't wake up until 4 the next day, and it starts all over again
