Guest guest
n, I'm glad you asked this. I have been on many different meds over the years, including, but not limited to, gold shots, MTX shots and pills, NSAIDS, prednisone, and Remicade. I know there are side effects to such powerful drugs so I have also researched some alternatives. My husband got me a book by Dr. O.A. Pagano, " Healing Psoriasis. " One of the most helpful sections is one on PA patients. It suggests avoiding All red meats (except Lamb), processed meats (sausage, salami, bologna, etc.), Nightshade food (tomatos!!!!, tobacco, eggplant, peppers, white potatoes, paprika, Shellfish, Alcohol, Fried Foods, Sodas, Pizza, Chocolate, Sugar Cereals, Vinegar, Hot Spices, and Junk Foods (Hamburgers, Hot dogs, Vending machine food, candy, potato chips, artificial preservatives.) Avoding Tomatoes helped me a GREAT deal in the beginning. I still limit them as my joints tend to suffer afterwards. In this book, he also recommends keeping tabs on bowel habits. Keeping the intestines cleaned out apparently leads to, at least, less psoriasis. It is very difficult for me to stay away from so many foods but when I do it Does make a difference. I do recommend this book. There are so few books out there for PA. The book is really mainly about psoriasis but does have a section on PA that is very easy to understand. I would like to hear others take on this subject as well. Anne in Tennessee
Guest guest
Hello Anne! Aside from trying to follow the diet, I do detoxification -- juicing, skin brushing & coffee enema. I've been doing this for 14 months now. What I need is the discipline & the determination. Here's wishing you the best! Mafe C.
Guest guest
I totally agree with you.Diets do help a lot. I am on ayurveda and main things is diet restriction. I stopped eating sour food, tomato, eggplant, yogurt, no meat, protein rich food and of having bowel movements/. Also ayurveda included cleaning the body thru induced vomite and pergation..by giving oil..in the form of enema. u can really see the difference once u do that. i am still eating NSAID - diclofenac and do all this simultaneous treatmnet. bye vidya
