Guest guest
--- Hi Patty, I don't know if you are on Enbrel-but that is the only thing that helped my awful P on my scalp that I have had since I've been about 12 years old-Enbrel cleared up all of it, but the sad thing it hasn't done anything for my joint pain, tireness, etc.!! My Rheumy said he has given up on me because he has turned to the " big guns " Enbrel and Arava combined with Methotrexate and it hasn't helped with the PA at all. He wants me to call for a 2nd opinion of another Rheumy because he thinks I have something else going on with my PA. I use to use T- GEL by Neutrogena-which would help but messed up with my coloring of my hair. T-SAL wasn't strong enough. Sorry this sounds like a downer. God Bless, Sue. Guest guest
I find something that works great and then loses effectiveness, so I use different ones each time I shampoo. It gets a little crowded in the shower!!!! T-Gel is my standard. Then I use anything with tea tree oil or peppermint. Arbonne has a good one. I order that on line. My hairdresser gave me a really good peppermint rinse, but I put it in my shower caddy and threw away the bottle. It tingles when I put it on--and seems to stop the itching for hours. At times, I use antibiotic ointment on the bleeding patches at bedtime. That gives relief for several day. I use the liquid dovonex for scalp also. Good luck. There is no simple solution. Guest guest
Hi Patty and Sue, Sue, I'm very sorry that the Enbrel hasn't helped your joints. Has your Reum. discussed other options? Before starting Enbrel, my doctor had said if the Enbrel didn't work, Remicade would be our next line of attack. I'd had psoriasis for 15 years on my scalp and ears. About 18 mths. ago my joints were attacked - BAD and the psoriasis started up on my elbow and leg. (oh, and how could I forget my toenails...I didn't know that was psoriasis until a couple months ago). Anyway, I've been on Enbrel for 4 months now and my skin, joints, toenails are all totally better. Recently I developed one tiny skin patch on my elbow but it's absolutely no big deal. Also, last week I had some pain in my ankle and foot. It was right after changing to the 50 mg Enbrel and reducing the MTX to 7.5mg. Initially I was a little scared but it seems to have disappeared as fast as it came. I LOVE Enbrel ! Over the past couple months I've posted quite a bit about my experience. I HIGHLY recommend giving it a try ! > > > > > > Howdy everyone! > > > > I'm in need of some help/advice from some of you who've experienced > P > > on the scalp recently. Guest guest
There is a Dovonex solution for the scalp. I've used that and Olux foam and its helped a bit. Good luck! I haven't had to worry much about P except for a little on my ankles and elbows for years but this winter it's beginning to get the best of me -- especially this crust that's forming on my scalp. I haven't kept up with any new developments and have been so skeptical of any topicals in the past. Is there really anything worth trying nowadays? Many thanks, Patty in the cool Pineywoods of East Texas
