During this time it didn't bother me at all but in the last month this has

Has anyone had experience with this?

If you look in the archives you will see many of us have had that. One day

I woke up with eye pain and red inflamation. I went to an opthalmologist

and he said it was auto-immune and related to arthritits. At that time I had

slight pain but wasn not yet diagnosed with PA nor did I have the pain I now

experience.

Hi . I have episcleritis too and was given steroid drops to use. I've had

problems with the same eye for probably a year now. My eye dr. didn't really say

too much about it, other than it can be caused by pa or many other things.

Hi Liz! Thanks so much for the reply!

How successful were you with the drops? Did you get the generic or brand for

the drops? I ask because my doc is insistent on me getting the brand of the

drops because he says studies show they work better. This usually isn't a

problem for me but I guess my insurance just changed their policy and won't give

brand name based on doc just saying they want brand, they now want a letter from

doc stating why, so here I thought I was going to get some relief but I will

have to suffer the weekend until the doc writes the letter stating why he wants

brand, then I can get my script filled for a reasonable price. I'm glad I know

this now especially with all the new arthritis meds coming out, I will ask for a

letter at my appointment.

Janet,

The reason I went ahead and posted the question was because I did a search of

the archives and nothing came back on episclertits. I know I have seen posts on

iritis but not episclertits. If you can find any posts on episclertits in the

archives can you tell me how you found them because my search said " nothing

found " .

Hi Denice,

Maybe the posts were on iritis. Sorry for the wrong info. I just assumes

they were the same thing. I know when I had a problem it affected the white

part of the eye which I believe is called the sclera.

Hi, Liz & ,

My husband just went to the eye doctor and he said something about having scar

tissue on the back of his eyelids. She said for him to take his contact lenses

out when he gets home from work. (He's a mailman and can see better to read the

addresses with his lenses.)

He said the doctor didn't mention episcleritis. I didn't know if it was similar.

Maybe not.

Hi ! Sorry it took so long for me to reply. My drops were brand name

(Lotemax) because my dr gave a sample he had at his office. I really don't know

why your dr thinks that a generic won't do as well - they have to pass tough

standards. And if you look at the active and inactive ingredients on brand name

and generic meds, they are almost always identical. I'd try the cheaper ones

first if it was me because when I ran out of my sample and had to buy it, it

cost me $80!!!!!

Good luck!

Liz
