I'm an Enbrel user, It works perfectly for me, I hope it will work for you.

It's good news. I found that the current needle is big :-)

Jean

[ ] First Shot of Enbrel

Hey everyone, keep your fingers crossed for me. I gave myself my

first injection of Enbrel. I have very high hopes and confidence

that things are going to get better. My goal is to be able to run

again pain free.

I also wanted to let the Enbrel users out there know that Enbrel is

changing the way injections are done. The nurse had shown me

yesterday how to use the current method as well as the new method

that should be out sometime in October. The biggest change is the

needles will be much much smaller. The one I am using now is the

size of sewing needle. Also, that whole contraption used to mix the

meds is going away as well. So if you haven't heard anything as of

yet from your dr you might want to ask them about it in early fall or

during your next appt.

Cheers,

Dennis

Hey Dennis,

I am an Enbrel user and have no side effects whatsoever. I to take a

long break in using it due to a change in health insurance companies.

During the time that I was off the Enbrel, I was back to square one in

no time at all. I spoke to my RHM about this and he told me that it is

like turning a water faucet on and off. I asked if I would have to be

on Enbrel the rest of my life and he told me, " let's take it one step at

a time. "

I also take 7.5 mg of Methotrexate a week, orally. At first I had major

headaches, but that has subsided now.

I a 46 year old male who has been suffering for the past 10 years

gradually, not knowing what the heck was going in my body. The majority

of doctors that I saw over the past ten years did their best to make me

feel like it was " all in my head. "

Enbrel has made a major difference in my life and spirit. There are

still bad days, but not as many.

Keep the faith my friend, you are on the right path to having a life

again.

Hugs.

Jim

I was so annoyed last night! I could not get the bubbles out of the syringe!

Had this problem yet. I actually had to shoot it back into the vile and re-do

it a few minutes later. I am sure it's not good for the med to do this, since

this means it was our of the fridge for over 30 minutes. Also, I can't find a

place on my leg to pinch enough fat to do this. I am a larger sized woman, but

my legs are muscular, and I am young, so the only place I can pinch are my

inner thigh. However, I have yet to see anything saying the inner thigh is OK?

Where do you give yours on your leg Jean? I try to follow the video, but I

can't pinch anything there!

Yes I do have this bubbles problem, and that's what I do, I put it back in the

bottle and try again, I go slowly.... maybe the speed matters?

Hehe, we have a very similar PA history but indeed maybe the gender makes a

difference. But one thing's for sure I love when Enbrel does for me. I feel 30

again ;-)

Cheers

Don't cha know laughter is the greatest medicine of all??? Yup, this

board is definitely a giggle some of the time - thank goodness for

the levity - and that we can laugh at ourselves (each other) - glad

Hi Sherri,

I have been taking enbrel for overy 2 years. Never any mouth soreness at all,

although while taking MTX, I got some dandy mouth sores. If your entire

mouth/ tongue is sore, making eating difficult, it sounds very much like thrush

(yeast infection). You might do well to have your primary doc or dermie take a

look. There are some easy remidies like mycostatin swish and swallow for thrush.

Good luck.

--Hi Sherry,

Happy Birthday to you! Must be a connection between Leos and PA (HAHA)

Do you take folic acid for mouth sores? I also had liquid carafate

that helped some. My dermie was surprised that PA could be so bad

too. It can!!!!!!!!!!

Good Luck,

Marti

I've been on Enbrel about 4 1/2 months and never had that problem. I went

off last week because of a sinus infection and my knees are horrible. They

still hurt on the Enbrel but not as bad. I can't wait to go back on and start

the

mtx as well.
