Guest guest
C, I was having the same problem with both my fingers nails and toes nails until I started on Enbrel. At least I think it is the Enbrel that is helping. I have been on it for about a year and half and they are clearing up. They are still brittle but look and feel much better. The toe nails stopped coming off and don't look to bad now. Like I said, I think it is the Enbrel that is helping them clear up. It is the last med that I have had added to my list of meds. My fingers still get numb from time to time and they swell up every day but the nails are better. Hope this helps. Dick > hello everyone > I have a question regarding finger nails. This has happened to me with several nails, but I just left them alone and the nails seemed to " repair " themselves when I started eating a low-carb diet. Sometimes even on low-carb I get them back, but it's just a little bit of lifting of the nail, not like before, and it doesn't last long before the nail seems to attach itself to the nail bed again. Guest guest
Talk to your RD to know if your nails are indeed psoriatic. I had nails like that. A weekly injection of Enbrel has completely cleared it up along with most of my other PA related problems. [ ] finger nails > hello everyone > I have a question regarding finger nails. Guest guest
This happens to me as well and I find that if I leave them alone they do get better. If they are bad enough where I think they might get caught on something I bandage them. I also try to keep them trimmed as close to the skin as possible so they don't get bumped as easy, etc. I am so afraid to use my nails for anything anymore...simple stuff like opening those little lids on spice containers or the tabs on drink cans, I now use something to pry them open rather than my nails. Guest guest
I had fingernails that looked like the mogul hill in the Winter Olympics. I still have two toe nails that I trim down to almost non-existent, but since I've been on Humira my finger nails have improved a lot. They still have straight lines running up and down, but the deep declivities are gone. My left hand has improved more than my right. I have heard that a lot of people's nails improve on Enbrel, too. Guest guest
> Another lurker has immerged. I have had a lot of trouble with my fingernails and toenails too. At the moment I actually have some! Organic nail oil has actually worked wonders. My nails used to lift up and off with ridges etc etc. I can't give you a brand name but there are a some better then others. Most directions tell you to put it on a couple of times a week but I use it any time I think about it and rub it in well. The massage helps too! Hope this helps. Any other Aussie's out there? Now I've broken the ice I'll try and give a history at a later date. (Ed. Note: Congratulations on de-lurking and welcome, welcome. We do, indeed, have some Aussies here and a Kiwi or two. Kathy F.) Guest guest
I have pitted and ridged finger nails and toe nails. They get better and worse, but never clear up. I am taking 12.5 mg of MTX and will probably go up to 15 mg this week. What caught my attention was the numbness. I have just started to get a numb index finger. I was wondering if this is a common symptom of PA. This finger has never had an inflammed joint and the finger nail is thin but not pitted or ridged. Years ago a doctor asked me to try FU4 and the nail improved, but I was never convinced that FU4 was the reason. Mike > > hello everyone > > I have a question regarding finger nails. Guest guest
> > Hi again, > > I noticed something a little odd this morning. My fingernails, although stronger than before I began Bee's program, are growing in a flattened, kind of spoon-shaped-curving-downward direction. Instead of being rounded like a Quonset hut, they look like I mooshed them down with something heavy so they'd grow this way. +++Hi W. Have you ever been anemic (low iron levels) or had thyroid problems? Or could you have them now? Are you taking all of the supplements in the correct amounts and the correct kinds? Are you eating red meats and eggs? All the best, Bee

I stopped taking it when I began your program. And I eat red meat on occasion and I'm eating eggs every day either in your egg drink or cooked. +++Hi . I recommend that you try to eat more red meat. > > I'm taking mostly all the right supplements. I am using up a calcium supplement that is not calcium citrate. Other than that, I believe I'm following your good advices to the letter. +++I think that calcium may be causing you a problem. You should switch over to taking calcium citrate right away! > Bee
