The whole finger is swollen all of the time, the end joint is gone, the finger points downward. You can wiggle the joint back and forth sideways with no resistance from the joint. It grosses people out. Hi Becky, Apart from what joint it is that is an exact description of my right pinkie and left ring fingers. As you say it is good as a back up in case people don't believe you have PA. I just say, 'Well, it sort of goes for your joints and does this' wiggling one of my fingers around. Always does the trick! lol Funnily enough I am also on Enbrel, MTX at 20mg and Indomethicine also I should have stopped the latter by now to go on to something else. Take care,
Guest guest
Do sausage digits ever go back to normal or do meds only help to prevent further progression? Judy Yes and no. My most sausage-like finger did not return to normal. The other ones went mostly back - but they were never severely swollen. my toes: those little piggies seem to change a bit all the time. Those feet knuckles! the joints beetween my toes and my meta-tarsals: now those are the joints that are currently unruly. I really hate shopping and, yet, I have spent hours and hours looking for shoes that I can work in. Yesterday, I finally found some exta-wide Columbia hiking shoes that I will alternate between some s with arch inserts, some Rockports with inserts and even a pair of slippers. So, I will always have four different pairs of shoes to wear throughout the day. Some days, I do best when I switch shoes every hour or so. Also, for the most part, I am finding shoes more comfortable than slippers. I have not found any running/basketball/cross-trainers that have been comfortable for more than an hour many years. I am learning that the more I can keep pain at bay, the better I can function. I can no longer just " gut it out " : it is too exhausting. Best of luck on your sausages. ...brent
Guest guest
Some are gently twisted and a couple, according to my > husband, look like ET. The last digit is shaped just like ET's head. ;-D My toes all seem to look like mushrooms. The stem is thinner and the top digits are all swollen and look like mushroom heads. Now my middle finger on my right hand is all swollen and becoming sausage like. Next week I start Remicade. Janet
