seeing as how now one can definitively address the cause of p and pa, i thought

i would

throw this out there (not that it would be a causation factor)...

how many of you with this disease were born prematurely?

i was born two months premature.

Hi Tom,

To tell you the truth..............I honestly can't remember. lol

Seriously though, I don't know. I will ask my mother although she has never

said anything about me not being born at the expected time. At a guess I would

say I would probably have been late if anything as I am late for everything

else! lol

Hope you are well today and its not too cold.

Hmmm, yes, I too am a premie and just like another , a twin. We were born

two months early and I weighed right at 4lbs, my brother slightly less... The

only time in my life I was under weight!!

Warmly,

karen - how simply cool that you have a twin bro as well - who

karen's with twin bro's.... i had such wonderful fun growing up. as

a pre-schooler in the 50's i was the only one of my friends that

also had boys at my birthday parties.... my bro ken was actually

heavier than i at birth (4 lb, 11 oz) but almost died during the

first week with immature lungs... my folks have some pretty hair-

raising stories about it all... by the way, what is your bro's name?

take care,

karen in vancouver, bc canada!

My mom says I was three months late... tho that seems

highly unlikely.

Hi ,

Thank God you didn't take any longer or you might have been born with your

school uniform on. lol

Take care,

Hi ,

My twin brother's name is Clayton ~ my parents thought going with the " k " sound

was kinda cool ~ have two other sister's named: and Kerry... The joke

is on them now though, you should hear my mother try to call us by name... She

usually stutters through a bunch of " ka " sounds before she lights on your

name.... Can, Ker, Cla, I mean ...

Anyway, it was a lot of fun growing up with a twin bro in the 60's too... We

looked after each other in typical ways, I kept him out of trouble and he stood

up for and protected me! This is of course after pushing each other down stairs

or knocking a dresser on top of the other as we tried to climb up it!!

Clayton, from a very young age on to around 10 or so, suffered from Croup (not

sure how to spell) and several times almost died... I ended up with severe

swollen glands which almost ruptured a couple of times when I was very young,

but we're both fairly healthy now (if you don't count his minor asthma and my

PA)... Okay, so we're relatively healthy!!

Best Wishes,

(Idaho)

Hi Helen,

Welcome to the group. I am in Scotland. I am also on MTX (although its in

pill form) with Indocid and recently started on Enbrel. Is the MTX working for

you? This is a great group with people from various parts of the world and all

of them can identify with you. That must be just about the only good thing

we can say about having PA eh?

Hope to hear from you again soon,

Hi (fellow twin!)

Thank you so much for sharing your family with me... it was lovely

meeting them. our family has exactly the same problem. I'm 'karen'

of course (or as my sister calls me, karkey-barkey - go figure),

then there was ken, my daughter kristie and my niece sarah - sar,

kar.... my mom is the worst - she will start with sarah, then

another name from out of nowhere and after about 3 attempts 'karen'

finally exits her mouth.... i can remember when i was younger

indignantly saying 'my name is karen mother'! - she reminds me of

this every once in awhile and i break out laughing - now i just

giggle and wait for her to get my name out. :-D

my twin is unfortunately no longer with us. in late 1985 he

developed hydrocephalis.... after emergency skull surgery he had a

shunt put in and all was more-or-less fine until he started

developing epileptic-like seizures. one night in april, 1988 he had

a grand mal seizure which he did not survive from... i didn't

mention this last time because i didn't want to bring you (nor the

board) down - i did, however, want to ask you to please give your

bro a hug... being a twin is so so special - i always knew it but

never more until it was too late.

it was a long time ago, and i am accustomed to it now so please

don't feel sad. i am not writing this for sympathy - just to share.

god bless and gentle hugs karen,

love, t'other karen
