Swelling and joint damage

Noticed some conversation about joint damage taking place only when there is

swelling. My doctors keep telling me this also-even when x-rays show the

damage is progressing and I haven't experienced a lot of swelling(but I have

experienced a lot of pain). My hands used to blow up like grapefruits but

haven't done that for several years at least. Unfortunately the joint damage

is worse. Maybe most people have more trouble with swelling but I seem to

have trouble either way.

Saw a short summary of a study done in Canada. They x-rayed people with p

but no symptoms of pa and found 50% of them had some evidence of damage that

would show up on and x-ray.? Anyone know more about this study. I'm not

sure I am accurately representing it.
