Yesterday in the Wal-mart line was a 20 year old man and his mother.  He

clearly had autism.  I introduced myself and told her that my daughter had the

same diagnosis as well.  After speaking with her, it was clear that it was a

very

nice but uneducated woman with no confidence in herself to help her son.  As

she said " I'm not very smart. "   She had turned him over to the school system

and they had done virtually nothing for him. Now he is going to age out of the

school systemin one year and I think that concerns her.  I gave her my email

address and phone number.  I am hoping she will call me so I can tell her some

of the things we have done and are exploring with my daughter.  Here's the

thing though.  Although my daughter has verbal stims, this young man has verbal

AND physical tics.  REminded me of tourettes and including physical jerks.  I

don't know know what to tell her to do about that.  If she does call me, does

anyone have recommendations for this?  Thank you.
