How did you do that? Mine won't take anything, unless in food he

loose stools). I also don't want him waking up at night. Our 13yo

goes back to sleep but he won't.

need to get some supps in him - maybe Brainchild as they are liquid?

Anyone chelate someone as young as 2yrs with just ALA? I can't get

anything into him very often so at most it would have to be 3x/day.

====>Then wait until you can get something into him every 3 hours during the

day and every 4 at night. To dose Ala every 8 hours is asking for redistribution

symptoms and worsening of autistic symptoms that may not be apparent for several

rounds. So dose according to the half-life of Ala or until you figure out some

way to get him to take something more frequently, don't risk it.

Ours was completely anorexic but we figured out a way to dose frequently and

if you're motivated you probably will be able to also.

Good luck,

Thanks, Michele

My #4 was 2-1/2 when I started chelating her. I gave ALA 3x per day.

I get several supps into him in his goat yogurt in the AM (liquids

are actually tougher then powders as I can't " hide " them in the

yogurt).

I don't like working with anything transdermal becz dh & I both have

amalgams & can't touch the stuff.

I started my youngest on ALA when she was still one. She took 3mg

every 3 hours in pear sauce.

Can you give him the yogurt and applesauce in divided doses during

the day? I mean since he gets them each once a day, can you split

up how much he normally gets into 8 servings so you'll have enough

for each dose? Or how about using oral DMPS... that'll only be

every 8 hours so less dosing.

My kids all had to be trained to go back to sleep during chelation.

It was easier with the little one b/c she was still in a crib but

the big kids had to deal with it too. After a few rounds, they

started eating it in their sleep and now they don't even remember us

feeding them their meds in the night - they just sleep right thru it.

Can you give him some crushed up melatonin in his first sleeping

dose? It may help him get back to sleep easier...

I won't use melatonin; my oldest didn't react well to it & I've

heard too many things about it messing with the hormones.

He's tough in that he cannot eat puddings & such things. He's also

picky from his slim pickings, which might in part be sensory. I may

be able to divide the yogurt a little, but I use it to get quite a

few supps into him in the AM, so I need almost all of it to do that.

Then there's just applesauce, which doesn't hide as much. He hated

pear sauce...

I guess I could look into DMPS, but my oldest was on oral DMPS years

ago & got a rash which his dr felt might be an allergic reaction so

we were advised to stop. He was doing the best on that chelator too

so I was VERY disappointed. But I don't think DMPS gets it out of

the brain either, so we'd have to add ALA in eventually anyway, I

think...

It does sound like DMPS would be a better alternative for you. Just

b/c your oldest son reacted doesn't mean this one will. All three

of my children have severe allergies and they are all allergic to

different things. So if you don't have the option to do DMSA every

4 hours, see if he tolerates DMPS. You will likely have to add in

ALA eventually but you don't have to do it right away; so just find

something that works for now and cross that bridge later.
