When this happens to my 3 year old, it's usually a phenol issue. Have you

tried no-phenol?? (anytime I give him apple juice, applesauce or grapes

this happens)

Subject: [ ] red cheeks again

My 19/m old has bright red cheeks again. I specifically have kept his

diet the same and have not added anything new. I did up his vitamin a

to 2,000 IU and plan to up it even more but have opted to do this

slowly. I also upped his vitamin c and spread it out over the course of

the day. Any opinions on if this probably is viral? Last time ( last

week ) the same red cheeks and I though it may e viral but not sure. If

I get lysine going how much would be safe for a 24 lb toddler?

My son gets this when I give him Cod Liver Oil. You mentioned upping vitamin A.

That could be a correlation. My sons go wild on CLO. I have tried to introduce

it many times over the last 2years, but their behaviors become awful. My one

twin's ears get really red and he rages. The other gets super hyper and lacks

any self control.

Usually related to phenol intolerance but can be other intolerances also.

Possibly, or the vitamin A is too much or not tolerated, or same with

the C. Are both cheeks red, or only one? And is the redness closer

to the underside of the eye, or in the middle of the cheeks?

For that small of a child, I would start with 100mg lysine, not the

250mg I started with for older kids.

> It is more red on his right cheek. That side is a bit rash like and

pretty much his whole cheek about to an inch under his eye.

Check out my daughter's face in this pic

This redness under her eye was caused by increasing vitamin C without

increasing carnitine. My kids needed carnitine for proper absorption

of vitamin C, and B vitamins. Since you wrote that you recently

increased the C, try increasing carnitine.
