I am convinced my son has this. He has the red cheeks, stuffy nose,

rash on hands, mild diarrhea, and a rash on his upper arms. He is

also sleeping fine, eating great, and generally feeling pretty well.

Here's the question... we have a family gathering tomorrow where

other children and my 8 month pregnant SIL will be there. Would it

be wise to keep him home? I was also wondering if it would be wise

to keep him home from church services tomorrow as well. Any thoughts?

Thanks!!

Tina

Tina, everything I read said that once they had the rash they were NOT

contagious. It is also said to be most likely to cause miscarriage in the first

trimester, only if the pregnant Mom caught 5th's from an affected child.

Otoh, if I were pregnant, I probably wouldn't go near anyone with it just to be

safe. You might present the facts to your SIL and let her decide what she is

comfortable with.

Again, they are only contagious prior to getting the rash, or so I've read.
