Guest guest
Hi, I have been thinking about this all night. When we started ALA in March, I realized my son was having redistribution toward the end of our first round (with three hour intervals) and changed it to 2 1/2 hour intervals the next time we chelated. A few weeks ago, I added DMSA to the ALA and Jada mentioned that we might be able to go 3 hours now because we had both the chelators (I think it was Jada). Well, we've been having bad side effects (headaches, headbanging, self injury, screaming, muscle/joint aches, tummy aches, yeasty behavior) during both rounds (one round just ended and the other was 2 weeks ago). This round I noticed the behaviors coming on toward the time he was due for another dose. Dana had said the symptoms of yeast changed over time, but I question whether the headbanging and headaches are truly yeast or are the combination of yeast toxins and redistribution in the head because the ALA wasn't dosed close enough together. It's interesting that the symptoms would primarily be in the head and ALA is what crosses the BBB. So even when combined with DMSA, if ALA has a shorter (2 1/2 hour) half-life in my son, he would still experience redistribution in the BBB if ALA was not given at proper intervals FOR HIM, right? Next time I am going to try giving the ALA at 2 1/2 hour intervals and see what happens. I appreciate any thoughts or comments.
