Why do I need thiamine?

Thiamine, also known as vitamin B1, converts carbohydrates into energy for both

you and your baby and is essential for your baby's brain development. It also

aids the normal functioning of your nervous system and heart. Breastfeeding

babies of thiamine-deficient mothers are at risk for beriberi;
