Guest guest
we had a smell like this on our first 2 rounds. It was pretty horrible (breath, gas, and bm's all smelled the same...even his skin seemed to smell) Any new supps? I finally figured out my son's smell came every time he drank large quanities of orange juice while chelating. I don't have any science to back that up, but when I stopped the OJ, the smell nevere returned. jgray1025 <jgray1025@...> wrote: He does not smell like his bowel movements. Guest guest
Is the smell sulfur-like? You might want to do a search of old posts and see what other's did for something like this. No new foods or infractions or anything? Everything else (behavior, bm's) the same? Guest guest
I think that can also be a sign of bacteria. Maggie O'rourke <maggie_orourke@...> wrote: Is the smell sulfur-like? Guest guest
If it smells like rotten eggs it could be hydrogen Sulfide (H2S). Another word typically used to describe this aroma might be " septic " . H2S is typically the by-product gas of anaerobic bacteria digestion. Molecular decomposition through bacteria. The odor threshold, or aerial concentration at which the human nose can detect it, for H2S varies. I have read anywhere from 0.0005–0.010 parts per million. Gas smells can be elusive. Smell the ears and nose also. Tussle his hair a second or two then smell them again. You can play around for a few minutes until he is breathing from his mouth in order to smell his breath. If you are sure you've isolated this to the mouth you can look around inside to see if there's some food trapped between teeth rotting away, or at age four it's not impossible a baby tooth is rotting away stinking things up. Septic colors are dark. If there's a spot in the mouth that you suspect might be the problem you might consider applying a Q-Tip soaked with Listerine or other anti-septic to it to spot kill the problem. Make sure he drinks enough water for a while which helps to flush the human sewer conduit that runs from the mouth to the tailpipe. Plenty of fluids can prevent natural gas traps from being by-passed by back- flowing liquids and gases. What do you suppose might happen if you gave him a glass of water with a small peck of baking soda in it? Influencing pH that way could possibly knock down over-production amongst gut flora. Tonsils can produce stinky gunk while infected. HTH > > He does not smell like his bowel movements. He smells like a broken sewer pipe. I smell it > from his skin and worse from his mouth. Guest guest
For a while I had what I described as a gunpowder odor. Guest guest
Hi , Just a suggestion other than the sulfur issue, is that it could be a possibility that he's put something up his nose and is now smelling like this from bacteria. My son had the same horrible 'stench' which seemed to be coming from everywhere on his body-skin and especially his mouth. Had no idea that he'd actually put foam rubber up there, as he wasn't complaining about his nose. Had to see 2 doctors, before they realised 'something' was in his nasal cavity. Donna. [ ] child giving off a sewage smell He does not smell like his bowel movements. He smells like a broken sewer pipe. I smell it from his skin and worse from his mouth. It is slight, but enough to be offensive. What could be causing that? Guest guest
My child when he was 16-17 smelled like a casket during chelation. I think it was because a combination of 1. toxic heavy metals 2. overgrowth of bacteria 3. yeast My son is 18 now and does not smell, is no longer chemically sensitive, and is recovered as far as extreme ocd and autistic behaviors are gone. We did intensive chelation for 8 months with the andy cutler method for toxic heavy metals using dmsa and ala plus a miriad of individual supplements. Within two weeks the chelators stirred up all kinds of yeast. At this time we needed to institute a stringent yeast protocol that had to continue during the entire time he underwent chelation. We did a rotation of 2 months each of the following for a yeast protocol. Uva Ursi 1 cap 3x per day for 2 months, then, MCT oil 1T 3x a day for 2 mo., then, Grapefruitseed extract 3 drops 3x a day for 2 mo. Then, begin with Uva Ursi again. Uva Ursi was my favorite, followed by Grapefruitseed, followed by MCT as far as what seemed to work best and ease of delivery. Along with this each day he recieved 2 candex in the am away from meals, custom probiotics after each meal, and for bacteria one super strength oreganol in the middle of the night. Sometimes we gave him more oreganol up to 3x a day but it has to be given away from everything so this was difficult. I dosed extra yeast/bacteria fighting supplements at night with chelators or set alarms for during the night dosing the entire 8 months. We also gave him Chlorophyl 1 cap 1-3x a day at the very end and that is what finally cleared up that last little bit of horrible smell from his breath. A diet that might work for bacteria is the SCD diet. I would be careful by trialing each food on that diet separately and checking for food allergies, because I have one child allergic to almost every food on the SCD, and she became sicker on it as a result. Otherwise, I can't think of a better diet that would kill off bacteria. We didn't use that diet on my son though. My son would only eat fast food at the time, so we chelated and did this yeast protocol and he recovered while eating taco bell, pizza hut, subway, and whoppers with cheese. We used houstons enzymes with meals. A funny story is the other day he told me I smelled strongly of nutmeg. After all these years of him not bathing and smelling like toxic sewage sludge, now he bathes, brushes his teeth, doesn't smell and complained about me. My how the tables have turned! We used to have to put a fan in his room to be able to go in there without gagging, it was so bad. He didn't bathe also, but even when he did bathe, he still had that horrible smell. Everyone laughed and was amazed when he complained about me smelling after all we have been through with this kid.
