I believe the recommended doses for ALA and DMSA is 1/8- ¼ mg per pound not

½ mg.

Not 1mg per pound, but 1/8 to 1/2 mg per pound. I would take his

weight and divide it by 8 and you get 1/8 mg per pound(for your son it

would be roughly 8mg). If he tolerates it well I would try maybe 10-12

mgs the next round. When you add the ALA I would add it at 1/8 mg per

pound and work up the same way.

Hmm.. okay. So I'm supposed to do a challenge with my son this week.

My ND gave me instructions at 20 mg per lb. I thought I'd do this

protocol instead. So now I have this bottle full of 50 mg capsules.

Any tips? Time to go buy a scale as I don't know what my son weighs

lately.

You will have to open the capsules and divide the powder into piles to

get the dose he needs. For example: we purchase 25mg caps and divide

the powder in half to get 12.5mg or if we want 20mg we removed 1/4 of

the pile of powder. etc, etc.

Thanks for all the help! The DMSA came in the mail at 10:50am and we

started chelation at 11am!!! I will probably have more ???soon!

_Ouch_. That is a _very_ high dose.

Furthermore, you need to ask what you are trying to test for. If you are

looking to evaluate the presence or absense of mercury, lead or arsenic

toxicity, then this is not the right way to do it. These kinds of challenge

tests are not helpful in this regard. The proper way to go about this is to do

a hair test (go to DirectLabs.com and order the " Hair Elements " test, _not_ the

" Toxic Hair Elements " test) and consider symptoms (get Andy's " Amalgam Illness "

and look at the symptoms and testing results that he discusses in relation to

mercury toxicity).

By the way, once you do the hair test, you can have Dean post it to his site.

Yes. I would suggest not doing this off the cuff. It's important to focus on

the fact that you are employing substances that move neurotoxins. The body

does it's best to keep these substances from moving around, as when they do,

they cause damage. Chelators go around those self-protective systems, and

begin to take the metals out. If you are going to do this, you really need to

have studied how to do it properly.
