Guest guest
*Does ALA stress the liver or kidneys? *How do I know what dose to start out on with a 26# child? I want to be very gentle and conservative. *Does ALA always increase yeast? *My son does not tolerate Supplements, only enzymes. He is on a homepathic liver and detox. Can I still begin ALA without without supps. My hope would be he could soon tolerate supps as his toxins decrease. *Where is the best lab to get the copper test done? *Do I have to test for heavy metals or can I just try ALA? *Does administering ALA every 3 hours ensure that metals or toxins won't move into the brain? What are the risks of moving toxins into the brain? Whew! I know it's annoying to go over these questions but I really appreciate your feedback and experienced insight. Is there a site or book devoted to research on ALA? Thanks, Dani

It supports the liver, and should not stress the kidneys because it excretes thru the bm. > *How do I know what dose to start out on with a 26# child? I want to be very gentle and > conservative. ALA supports the liver. > *How do I know what dose to start out on with a 26# child? You can get 25 mg capsules and break them up into smaller doses. > *Does ALA always increase yeast? Usually, yes. > *My son does not tolerate Supplements, only enzymes. I would, then try to work them in as soon as you can. Have you tried giving the supplements with no-fenol enzyme? That might help. > *Where is the best lab to get the copper test done? We didn't do this before we started. You can get an RBC through Great Plains if you can get a doctor to order one. > *Do I have to test for heavy metals or can I just try ALA? You can just try the ALA and see if you notice any changes after several rounds. We actually did not do our first hair test until after we'd chelated for well over a year. > *Does administering ALA every 3 hours ensure that metals or toxins won't move into the > brain? What are the risks of moving toxins into the brain? The possibility is there, that is why you keep chelating to keep the metals moving out. It's probable that there are already metals in his brain and using ALA is the only way to get them out. Using Andy's low frequent dose schedule minimizes the side effects and risks. > Whew! Before I started chelating I spent many months just reading all the posts here, studying the FAQ and Moria's site. Sheresa
Guest guest
Dani, I would really suggest that you buy either Andy's book on chelation or Dr. McCandless' book, Children with Starving Brains. You can't use ALA alone because it will also chelate good minerals from the body, such as calcium, iron, magnesium, etc. Both books will explain this in detail. Andy's book does has a poorman's version of chelation. ************************************** See AOL's top rated recipes (http://food.aol.com/top-rated-recipes?NCID=aoltop00030000000004)
Guest guest
Dani, Forgot one more thing about the BBB (blood brain barrier) which is also discussed in both those books that I told you about. ALA does cross the BBB but DMSA does not. There is a lot of debate about the BBB. One of the reasons to do ALA every 3 hours and DMSA every 4 hours is that it keeps the stuff moving so that it empties either by stool or urine. Please get one of the books!! ************************************** See AOL's top rated recipes (http://food.aol.com/top-rated-recipes?NCID=aoltop00030000000004)

There are many people that use ALA alone with good results. It is a very good idea to have his books tho and also to supplement minerals while chelating with any chelating agent. Guest guest
His books don't say this...he even says dmsa doesn't do this either. > > > > You can't use ALA alone > > because it will also chelate good minerals from the body, such as > calcium, iron, > > magnesium, etc. > > **I'm not sure where this information is from but I'm quite sure that > Andy does NOT say this in his book. Guest guest
I do not say this and my books do not say it either, and it isn't so. The sulfhydryl chelators, DMSA, DMPS and ALA, do not chelate and remove significant amounts of any essential element.
