Guest guest
Hi, I was wondering if anyone has had huge break throughs with l-acetyl- carnitine? We saw incredible jumps in receptive and expressive language along with focus for the first week of trying this supplement. Now the gains have tapered off. I'm treating for yeast now in the event that it is masking the gains. Does anyone have experience with this?
Guest guest
This seems to be the ongoing story of our lives: new supplement/med, great breakthoughs, then tapering off of good side effects. But I don't know that that doesn't happen to so many people, mercury-challenged or not. I don't have toxicity issues (that I'm aware of) and I take many of the supplements that my son does, as they are just good supplement and often anti-aging recommended. They seem great at first then don't seem to have any noticeable effects or further improvments after a couple of weeks. Guest guest
Thanks for commenting. I wonder why that is. Does anyone have any theories? Because I'm not talking about a noticable improvement with this - it was major (and it's not totally gone, but the few days it " worked " wowwee my son was in a state I cannot explain other than to say seriously on the road to non-ASD). I wonder if supplementing one thing can lead to depletion in something else so the gains are lost with the depletion of the next item. I wish we could plug our babies (and ourselves) into a diagnostic machine and figure it all out (like a car . Also, the thought that yeast kicks up and masks the benefit seems reasonable. > > > > > [ ] L-Acetyl-Carnitine - huge responder > > > > > > > Hi, > > I was wondering if anyone has had huge break throughs with l- acetyl- > carnitine? Guest guest
, We have a similar story. My daughter responded big time at the start of her treatment 3 months ago. She's not on the same supplements as your child, but the gains started abating after a few weeks. We started biomed in July so I'm still relatively new at theorizing about issues, but my current theory is that it's largely a problem with YEAST and possibly some viral issues that are clouding things. In her case, she was on an antifungal (fluconazole) for 2 weeks at the start with no natural yeast control afterwards. So I think the medication zapped the yeast during the period where we saw gains, then it slowly crept back and is clouding the progress. I've also seen signs of it at times (eg cloudy urine) so it's my #1 theory today. I'm trying to find the right yeast fighting balance that works for her. Blast that yeast thing, 4 months ago I'd never even heard about systemic yeast and today it's my nemesis! I'd also like to hear from others with similar experiences. > > Thanks for commenting. At my house, carnitine was required for proper absorption of B12, TMG, folic acid, and vitamin C. When I first started the carnitine, it caused a relatively immediate absorption of all the free-floating of those supplements. After a while, the gains appeared to taper off, but then I increased those supplements and the gains continued again. Dana
Guest guest
Dana, I've done a trial of DMG (twice) the most recent being six months ago and it made my son very cranky and we didn't see any gains at all. Could this be because he couldn't handle it? Should I try DMG or TMG now with the carnitine? I don't think he had any free floating at the time, but he may have had some free floating phosphatidlcholine in his system. Could this be the difference? He also seemed to get hyped up when we had the folic acid in the B12 shots, so we took it out. Does this mean I should try these again? Thank you! > > I was wondering if anyone has had huge break throughs with l- acetyl- > > carnitine?
