The TD DMPS seemed to have a dramatic effect before we hit the plateau, so I think it can happen using trans- dermal chelation. Also it turns out after you've used DMPS for a while (a couple months) you can do ALA without as many side effects or symptoms, which was our experience. We're going to go back to oral ALA because there is a good-tasting liquid made by Life Solutions. My daughter really likes the flavor, which is a far cry from trying to feed her sorbet with it at night- freezing cold and semi-solid, which was a horrible experience ending in her screaming and being wide awake, yet refusing to eat it. Also since it's a liquid we can drop it in her mouth with a dropper, and as you know even very low doses are supposed to work, so I think we can try again given this new agent. By the way, I tested this liquid ALA myself on myself as a sole oral chelator for months and I think it worked, although subtly. The 8 hour schedule if you're really stuck with it would be best served by just sticking with DMPS and then you're doing it Cutler-style, and the transdermals can be an alternative for ALA that is a piece of cake because all you do is spread it on your child.
